New theatrical teen horror from Blumhouse. Trailer debuted today, just in time to be attached to the new Insidious:

Could be trashy fun in the vein of Wish Upon or Happy Death Day.

Funny enough, SyFy Channel made this exact same movie and aired it last October (it even shares the name Truth Or Dare). And despite their terrible track record, this one is actually a lot of fun, including some cringe-inducing gore throughout the finale and an appearance from Heather Langenkamp. If you can't wait for April, this one should tide you over.

I haven't seen a ripoff this blatant since Friday the 13th. I honestly thought it was a remake or sequel to It Follows. I couldn't even watch the entire trailer.

I'll probably watch both for free someday. Those Blumhouse movies manage to make a lot of money even though many that I've seen aren't that great.

I've seen some bad trailers for bad looking movies recently, but this one takes the cake. I think I was about a minute into the trailer before I had the slightest idea what this thing was even about, which is not a good sign.

Not that it should come as any surprise, but:

Rated PG-13 for violence and disturbing content, alcohol abuse, some sexuality, language and thematic material.

Didn't realize this was from the director of Cry_Wolf. I watched that in preparation last night.

This looks pretty bad, but hopefully it's at least in the same league as Cry_Wolf.

    Anyone going this weekend?

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone here, but since I'm generally okay with Degrassi horror, I was fine with it. It is pretty bland though. Better than The Bye Bye Man, but not as much fun as Wish Upon or Shark Night.

I think my biggest problem was waiting for the movie to catch up with the trailer, as the trailer shows pretty much the entire movie beat for beat, including all the dares and kills. And once it finally does catch up, it really doesn't go any further. There's literally nothing in this movie you didn't see in the trailer.

I said it before, but I still recommend SyFy's Truth Or Dare from last October. Same exact premise, but that one delivers the gore and does surprisingly clever things with the plot. I love that the characters work together to actively try to outsmart the dares, looking for loopholes to survive. There's absolutely none of that here, it's just do the dare or die.

I watched a Chris Stuckman review last night for this and he found it fell into the so bad it's good category. That got me at least interested enough to download it when it's available.
I'm surprised to hear there's a film with the same name that came out not long ago. That makes things confusing.

For what it's worth, the vastly superior SyFy Truth Or Dare will be hitting DVD on September 4th:

I'll definitely be picking this one up. I'll probably skip owning the Blumhouse version, unless I can find it for like $7.99 or something.

I'm only 5 minutes into this movie, and I already wanna shoot myself.
Characters are annoying as fuck, and when the opening credits scene starts, and they started to take selfies, while a brain dead teen song blasted through the speakers, I turned it off.

I watched the 2017 movie instead, and really enjoyed it.
Some pretty gruesome stuff in this one, that made me cringe.
THIS version, should have gone to the theaters, instead of the Blumhouse PG-13 crap.

I watched this during the week and actually had a fun time with it. It's ridiculously stupid which kept me entertained. The concept is so dumb but the characters are even more so. I found myself laughing and making fun of it the whole way through. Those stupid smiles crack me up too haha.

I watched Rampage afterwards and actually preferred Truth or Dare over it. It felt like a very worthy candidate of the "so bad it's good" lable.

Wonder what the difference in versions unrated is only 1 minute longer than the theatrical version? I am guessing its either a little more violent or additional language?

The blu-ray is already on sale for $11.99 at Best Buy. It's also part of a 2 for $22 promotion. I'm considering picking it up with Blockers.

Both of those films are pretty bad although the price is right.

Thanks I just came back and got it from bestbuy glad I held off in getting it at full price my store isn't gonna carry movies no more but of course my store is very small. Reviews on YouTube got me interested in seeing truth or dare.
