There's also a UK version (October 1st release date) of the set that's cheaper.

No word on individual releases of the films that never got them on Blu-ray. Typical...

Yep. The UK version is over $60 cheaper right now. Speculation is that it won't be region-free. But my modified Oppo can handle region B. I think I'm going the British route.

Now I will agonize over whether or not to sell my current 007 BDs.

Here's more good news. The item page for the UK version shows a price of 89.99. But when I pre-ordered I was actually charged only 74.99. With shipping to the US the set is 78.07--roughly $120!!!

Hopefully they honor the lower price. What a deal. I already own 8 of the included films on Blu (including 3 I just picked up at the Amazon after Christmas sale, AGGGGHHH!). But for that price I can't pass this set up.

I can't wait to see OHMSS in HD. Hopefully they resolve the color timing and 5.1 balance issues that somewhat mar the Ultimate Edition DVD. Those issues distract me more than the clumsily replaced sound effects at a few points.

I wish they were releasing these singularly but I'll get the set anyway. I have ten out of the thirteen currently release Bond Blu-rays, and I still own the four Ultimate Edition DVD box sets. I should be able to get $100+ for all of those, leaving the price tag at less than $100 on Amazon US (and that price may even go down over time). I wouldn't be able to get the remaining twelve discs for less than that.

It looks like Amazon will offer $5 each for the existing Bond Blu-rays through their buy back program. I think I'll take the $40 before they drop the per disc price.

I'm glad I waited. $200 is a fair price when you consider the number of movies. I'm curious what the bonus features entail.

Definitely been feeling Bond lately... faves include Octopussy,For Your Eyes Only, and (*gulp*) View to a Kill...I'm a fan of Roger Moore's films, having grown up around that era...the ultimate DVD versions work fine for me though,at least for now.

They will honor the lower price. The prices that appear on Amazon.uk include Britain's value added tax, or VAT, which is the country's national sales tax. But that tax only applies when shipping to domestic addresses, so when they see that you have a foreign address it gets removed. It's always good for a nice little discount when ordering from the UK.

Thanks Jeremy. I appreciate the explanation. I'll keep that "discount" in mind going forward.

    That's a brutal tax! 20%? Ouch.

Vintage Stock offered me $21 for the three BD volumes and $4 for LICENCE TO KILL. For that price I'll hold onto them.

A VIEW TO A KILL is your favorite bloodthrill? Oh dear gawd. I despise that film. Grandpa Roger is so old and Tanya Roberts terrible, even by Bond Girl standards. Oh well, the opening credits are awesome.

That´s right about the lower price but that´s wrong about VAT.

Prices on Amazon don´t have VAT included until you made the checkout... I don´t live in the UK but live in Europe and almost every item comes with VAT at checkout.

Not quite sure on what you're trying to say here, as your English grammar is a little off. But if it's what I think (that you get charged VAT when shipping to your country), then perhaps there's an E.U. treaty covering sales taxes that doesn't apply to shipping to America. I don't order from Amazon.uk any longer, but used to order from them a lot, and just tried to place a mock order now, and everything I placed in my cart was lower priced than what was listed on the item page once I got to checkout. It very specifically said "Total before VAT" when listing the order subtotal, and VAT was zero.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE Bond fan, but I already own the DVD boxsets (cause it was way cheaper then avoiding the couple I didn't like as much) and only intend on buying Goldeneye and Spy/Loved Me when they are available individually on blu ray. Unless the additional/exclusive features are exceptional, I'll wait.

If they use the uncut version of Licence to Kill, then this set will be mine. If not, I'll wait till that 3-pack is super cheap.

Wait, the currently available version of Licence to Kill on blu ray is uncut? I just assumed it was the same version that was released as part of the dvd boxsets, which is the same version of the movie I've been seeing since day 1.
Is there a noticeable difference or are we talking about mere frames of film here?

All releases of License To Kill are uncut starting with the 2006 Ultimate Edition DVD. If you have that you already have the uncut version. See here:
