I doubt it. The Casino Royale (1967) Blu just came out and it didn't contain the 1954 movie (You need to buy the DVD for that). The Never Say Never Again Blu that is currently available is impressive in my opinion (quality & extras).

Yep. The Never Say Never Again Blu-ray is pretty definitive. I sincerely doubt a better release is coming in the foreseeable future.

    Good news regarding the extras!:

    http://www.digitalbits.com/#mytwocents

"And in other news, there's been a lot of talk around the Internet about the list of extras revealed yesterday by Fox and MGM for the upcoming Bond 50 box set. Specifically, it appeared (based on the press release) that many things have been left off from the previous DVD and Blu-ray Ultimate Editions of the Bond films. Upon reading the list however, I wasn't convinced that it was 100% comprehensive and included absolutely everything on the discs. So I asked the studio to clarify. Sure enough, I've just heard back from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. As expected, the list posted yesterday - and included in the official press release - was simply a "marketing highlights" summary. The complete list of extras on the Bond 50 discs is significantly longer. We've asked for additional details and specifics and we'll post them here as the studio makes them available."

So there's still hope that all the extras from previous editions will be included! :D

Outstanding. I didn't catch that part of the article. Thanks!

this is kind of exactly what i was afraid of. these are clearly the original blu ray versions, which is doubly insulting considering the quality edition of Casino Royale that has been available for years. like i said, an ultimate edition that is clearly anything but. :fuck:

all well and good, but look at the supplements being advertised for the other discs, then compare them to those listed for the last two films. this mysterious "complete list" consists of lots of restoration demonstrations and photo galleries, i'll wager.

Any Bond fan that cares about extras already has the "Ultimate Edition" DVD's so I'm not going to get bent out of shape if some extras get left behind. The "Ultimate Edition" DVD's have an exhaustive amount of quality material so I'm not too concerned about new extras either. I just want beautiful transfers and excellent (correct) audio. At this point the only extra that is going to get me excited is a Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan drunken commentary. ;)

There's absolutely no reason to believe that all the Ultimate Edition extras won't be ported over. The first wave of Blu-rays appear to have included everything. And since the new set will almost certainly contain re-releases of that bunch the new releases would almost certainly follow suit for consistency.

I foresee a happy ending here. I'm more concerned about the color timing and audio track for On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

im sure the films up to die another day will retain their extras, im just a little nonplussed at the prospect of the final two films not including all the previously available extras. and yeah, of course any true bond fan will have the previous dvd sets. i certainly do. but with funds being limited, im not terribly likely to spring for blu ray upgrades for everything i own, even films i love as much as bond. so the fact that this may not include all the previously available extras, even if its only from one or two films, isn't great. it doesn't make the set a steaming pile of shit. its still an awesome set. but its not a perfect set anymore. and bond deserves a perfect set. although, to be honest, i couldn't afford to pick this up in either perfect or imperfect form. so its just bitching on my part...

Update on the extras (nothing to really fear though):

    http://www.digitalbits.com/

"Okay, so we have one more quick update for you today from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment regarding the Bond 50 box set extras. The contents of the set are still being worked on and aren't totally locked yet so it's too early to provide a complete exhaustive list of extras on each disc. However, I'm told by the studio that you can expect that "most everything from the previous Bond Ultimate Edition DVDs and Blu-ray releases will be included." We could caution you that this doesn't mean EVERYTHING will carry over for sure - you may lose some text or image gallery material. You may also recall that the current Die Another Day Blu-ray was missing content from the original 2002 2-disc Special Edition DVD. So there are likely to be a few exceptions. But in general, the goal is to carry everything over. Adjust your plans accordingly."

You're not being unreasonable at all. They've had plenty of time to get this 100% right. I'm still optimistic that they will.

I'll confess that my hatred of Quantum of Solace will keep me from ever finding out if all the extras are ported over. But it'd definitely be nice to have everything for Casino Royale.

the thing that keeps me from becoming optimistic is that they keep going out of their way to specify that its everything from the "Ultimate Edition DVDs and Blu-ray releases." the thing is, neither casino royale nor quantum of solace were released as ultimate edition dvds. their wording makes me think that there might be some stuff on the casino royale SE that might not make the cut. and my issue with QoS wasn't that all the extras wouldn't be brought over, but rather that a new edition is fairly likely to coincide with the release of Skyfall (i certainly hope it does), and that if it does, it would be disappointing for this set to not include that version.

I'm sure EVERYONE is sick of hearing me rant about it. But I can't help it. I'll always regard it as the ultimate lost opportunity. Casino Royale re-established the character in a fresh way without leaving long-time fans in the dust. And it wrapped up in a way that suggested the next film would return to familiar territory (the Connery styled suit, his iconic line, and a thundering rendition of the Bond theme). But Quantum Of Solace ignored that promise. It doesn't look, sound, or entertain like a Bond film. The generic soundtrack drives me insane. What has David Arnold done that makes him think he's good enough to ignore John Barry? And the action scenes are completely incoherent--which might be excusable if the film wasn't an endless parade of set pieces. And Bond himself is so ill conceived--completely at odds with both his literary and cinematic incarnations. Does anyone believe that James Bond would casually disregard the body of a fallen comrade in a dumpster?

I'm a big fan of Craig as Bond. And I sincerely hope he gets to make a proper Bond film. Prior to seeing the Skyfall teaser I was optimistic this was it. But now I'm not sure. It's clearly going to be an incredibly good-looking film. And I suspect that Mendes will return to a more traditional style for the action scenes. But the somber tone seems inconsistent with all the talk about a "Goldfinger feel." And why does every modern Bond film make Bond's mission personal? The literary Bond was the ultimate good soldier--always putting England's interests above his own. And the cinematic Bond spent a lot more time battling his foes than his own personal demons. There's angst in Fleming's character. But not THIS MUCH ANGST.

I have no objection to the Bourne films. But it outrages me that Eon would pander to the Bourne crowd. Bond has been entertaining scores of people for 50 years now. Damn Forster to hell for thinking the Bond we know is irrelevant.

    I feel better now. Ha.

Valid points as always Shape 22. Call me crazy, but for some reason I still enjoyed the hell out of QOS. The teaser looks promising for "Skyfall", but you're right about the angst angle. It's hard to go from "Casino Royale" to "A View To A Kill."

I'm usually a completest about things, but I can see where some of the previous content could be omitted with the purpose improving the overall quality of the finished product. Some of that content is decades old and could be considered redundant, obsolete or inferior quality.

I loved Casino Royale (2006) and devoured the extra content on both Blu-ray releases. I was underwhelmed by QoS so I didn't even bother looking for extras. I'll be content as long as the trailers are on the disc. And that will be the only extras for QoS I'd bother with.

No doubt Buck. And let's hope they don't ever swing the pendulum back quite THAT far.
