Friday opens, naturally, on the 13th. The 12th just wouldn't do!

I think the 3-D gimmick and strong word of mouth will propel MBV well above the genre norm, but come on. Friday the fucking 13th. It's going to be huge. I'm thinking 85 million for Friday and 42 million for Valentine. Deep down, though, I hope both cross 100 million...opening day.

Friday will, it already has a massive audience and people are aware of what it is.

My Bloody-valentine however, whilst it does have a fan following doesnt have the audience Friday has. The 3D aspect may turn a fair few heads though so you never know.

F13th, although I think MBV looks more fun, and I'm more excited about that one.

Friday the 13th will make more money, but I think I will like My bloody Valentine more just because it has Tom Atkins.

Why the hell wouldn't they release F13 on Friday The 13th??? That's just stupid! Anyway I think it's going to win the battle either way.

Only thing that can change that is which of the two fellows from Supernatural is more popular, and can bring in fan boys/girls from their name alone.

I think Friday will earn more, but I'm actually looking forward more to My Bloody Valentine -3D. I think the trailer just looks scarier.

I really doubt My Bloody Valentine will go wide in 3-D. I certainly don't expect it to be that way in my area when Journey to The Center of the Earth wasn't. Friday the 13th is most definitely going to be the bigger draw by at least 2:1.

F13, but only because it's a wider known title IMHO

    both trailers looked promising

Friday The 13th (2009) for sure. As others noted, it's a known commodity and My Bloody Valentine isn't.

The 3D aspect is a bit of an unknown for My Bloody Valentine though. Journey to the Center of the Earth had a very long lasting box office run, partially due to good word of mouth, but also due to very steady business at the 3D theaters. Do we know if this is going to be 3D everywhere or, like Journey, just at theaters with Digital 3D?

  12. Friday will blow Valentine away just because of name brand recognition, though Valentine is one of the only remakes I have ever looked forward to.

Exactly my thoughts! There's good reason this man is President and CEO of Silver Shamrock.

Friday, clearly, for reasons everyone else has spoken about.

Friday the 13th, easily. No Digital 3D movie has been a giant hit because it just isn't available in all that many locations. My Bloody Valentine will probably be near the top of the 3D heap, but still nowhere near Friday the 13th as far as total gross.

Definitely Friday the 13th just because if the name. Outside of freaks like us, not many folks have ever heard of My Bloody Valentine.

F13 has the bigger name - in fact a lot of my friends had never even heard of the old MBV movie- I told them they were missing a great horror/slasher flick

Don't know which one will be the better movie, although both look promising, but I think Friday will take the cake just because like many on here have already mentioned it has the bigger fan following and name recognition. the again, Journey to the Center of the Earth looked awful and it ended up doing $195 million worldwide (And $100 million domestically), so I think that had something to do with the 3D gimmick. It actually made almost as much as the Mummy 3 domestically.
