According to the mobius forum, Bill Lustig has stated that Blue Underground will be releasing BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE next year.

"...Oh, we also have - we're also releasing next year - BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE with a brand new high-definition transfer from the camera original negative supervised by Vittorio Storaro, the DP. That's in the works right now."

    From www.darkdreams.org

If they release it, that would be so great.

I'm so fucking excited about this release... I've held off on the VCI disc and the film is one of my all-time favorites. Now here's hoping BU will finally get their hands on Four Flies!

EDIT: As a side note, BU also announced they will be releasing Jess Franco's 99 Women and Venus in Furs.

I'm glad this was one film I always kept putting off on buying. Now I won't have to get rid of yet another old DVD!

This is pretty cool news. I'm still wondering about the status on Lizard though.

Yeah. Good luck. You know how stingy Paramount is with their flicks.

Whoo hoo. I'm pretty excited about this one. I've always wanted it on DVD. I think almost all of Argento's films are worth having.

and according to a poster at mornius, the BU edition might be incorrectly framed over the VCI one.

Got the VCI DVD for free, and I didn't notice any glaring problems with the image quality. I'll probably get it though. What about Phenomena and Tenebre, you fucks?!

It's BU, watch everyone jump around excited ;)

I thought the Medusa print was supposed to be very very good, I've not seen it though. Rebuying this one depends on extras for me - the original VCI disc had the soundtrack :)

Like Matt85 though, I really want someone, please ANYONE to do Tenebre right. Matt85 is off his head about Phenomena though ;)

The only way to notice the differences is through screenshots.

So I guess for the moment the Italian disc is the one to go for.But I don't want to triple dip at this moment so I'll just wait and see.

i want a better version of this movie too. i really liked it and it seemed more like a crime mystery type movie rather than actual horror tones. my vci disc looked pretty shitty:( looks like the italian one is still the one then.

on a seperate note, i too need a kick ass version of tenebre. i would be very happy with a disc that looks like the opera disc since i would love to have a seperate disc with just the music on there.

The Tenebre soundtrack is KILLER. I have it on CD, it's brillant. Come to think of it, I also had it on vinyl.....

I have that Tenebre CD too,it's brilliant.
I also have the Suspiria CD and the one in the Suspiria LE DVD,I never play that last one.
Although it's a nice extra to a DVD to include a CD with the soundtrack,it doesn't work for me.Never played the Opera CD either (also because it isn't that good IMHO).

It's a shame the Opera soundtrack doesn't include "Opera Theme" by Bill Wyman; creepy track.

And I third the Tenebre soundtrack as brilliant, especially with all the remixes of "Flashings" (track never gets old.)

almost every single time i go to watch opera, i accidentaly put the cd in instead of the dvd and have just decided to listen to it a couple times. for about a solid 6 months after my wife got the suspiria dvd, every time i'd get into her car to run to the store or something, that suspiria cd would be jammin'.
