Cannibal Holocaust

  1. I've been hearing about Grindhouse's "newly restored print" of Cannibal Holocaust being screened in various places (including my area this summer!), and was wondering if anybody knew just what the differences between this newly restored version and previous versions are... Is it any different than the version that'd been making the rounds these last couple years, or is that the one they're referring to? 'Cause, you know, when I hear phrases like "Grindhouse's newly restored print of Cannibal Holocaust," I immediately start having daydreams of freshly restored, super-sharp/ bright, cinescope piranha footage, ya know? :D

Where did you hear that information? Because I'd like to know where its going to be screened myself. As for restored footage, I guarentee you the film will look the best it has ever looked. And yes, Grindhouse has gotten the Piranha scene! Let me repeat that, THE PIRANHA SCENE WILL BE IN THE GRINDHOUSE CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST DVD! I can't wait! jak

  3. Well, I've seen it mentioned on GoreZone.net, and it's being screened double-billed with Shockwaves in South Jersey by Exhumed Films (www.exhumedfilms.com - local outfit that shows all kinds of great horror classics on the big screen) June 29.
Man... The piranha footage news definitely makes my day...!

Now, when's the restored DVD coming out...? ;)

i don't think Grindhouse included the piranha scene into their theatrical print of it, i think it's only gonna be an xtra on the DVD (but i could be wrong, i'll talk to Bob as soon as i can to find out)(i actually haven't even gotten confirmation from him yet that the scene has actually been found, but my fingers are crossed). also, if you're going to be at the Exhumed showing of Cannibal Holocaust you might end up on the DVD! myself and a few others are videotaping at the event for the folks at Grindhouse, so be sure and look your best!

Anyone know if they're gonna be showing this print in L.A.? I'd give an arm and a leg (not mine, but someone elses) to see this classic on the big screen.

Ditto for me, but what are the odds that there will be a screening in Rhode Island  . Well, I guess I'll just wait for the DVD.

Hey -- if anyone's going to be at the Exhumed show, I will be there. I think I win the fan for "most loyal fan that drives the furthest." I make most of the shows (though I'll be missing this week's Hammer show as I have a wedding to attend), driving from Virginia. It's a hike and ends up costing me a load in tolls, but it's worth it.

I'm really glad that the guys at Exhumed get to debut the new CH print. Very cool.

Ya know I might try to make it. I'll have to see if I can scrounge up some extra money. jak

  10. I miss the old Exhumed theatre... I mean, the modern seating is a huge improvement; but I miss the Hell out of that guy who tore the tickets, man.
Now that you've put the idea in my head, though, I may riot if there's no piranha scene. Just me - a one man riot. ...Pray you never have to see it.

I'm in northern VA (quite a distance from you). You'd have a heck of a trip to make for the show! If you do end up going, let me know and I'll see you there.

Werner -- Are you there on a regular basis? Would I recognize you? I'm the one that always sits right behind the handicap seating railing in the second row.

I miss the Harwan, too... and Howard the ticket taker (that guy absolutely added to the atmopshere). But at the same time, when they had their 5-movie all-night zombie marathon, I was singing the praises of the new theatre and their comfortable seating (I could *never* have lasted 5 movies at the Harwan).

If you're interested, I have a few pictures here: http://www.laze.net/pictures/exhumed.shtml

    (I'm Ryan, incidentally)

  12. Yeah, I'm there on a pretty regularly... missed a few (including, it looks like, this coming Friday); but I've been to most of their shows.
I'm the one who never wins any of the prizes.

Well, feel free to stop by and say hey to me if you see me at any of the upcoming shows...

I've only one once in the last 2 1/2 years... but it was a good prize (an Exhumed t-shirt).

  14. The thing is - I always go with one or two friends, so I figure, by now, the odds of one of us winning something at the next show have to be about 60/40 - in my favor - by now.

Attention all Cannibal Film Connoisseurs in the Maryland/Pennsylvania/New Jersey/New York/Delaware area! This is YOUR chance to be on a real, live DVD! Yes, that’s right, YOU! On a DVD!

On Friday, June 29th our pals at Exhumed Films in New Jersey will be hosting the World Premiere of Grindhouse Releasing’s brand new, gorgeously remastered print of Ruggero Deodato’s infamous flesh-munching shocker CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST!

To immortalize the occasion our crack team of media specialists will be recording the festivities for exclusive use on Grindhouse Releasing’s upcoming DVD of the title. So show up, maybe you’ll get to see your face on the disc. Hell, if you’re really lucky and seem even remotely intelligent you might get interviewed too! So start practicing those speeches, you never know who we’re gonna interrogate.

Remember: June 29th, Hoyts Point Theatre in Pennsauken, NJ. Be there or regret it for the rest of your miserable lives!
