It's not why I bought it, but it's certainly why I went against my usual 'wait for the next Deep Discount sale to buy the last 6 months of cool DVDs' rule and preorderd a single item.
That's quite lame advertizing the special cover so much, and then not getting it on the release date. I highly doubt all 2500 units are already sold out. Some people are saying they have received the special cover, so it is out there. I guess I'll see when I get mine in the mail. Not a major deal or anything, but still lame.
I went to Best Buy this afternoon, and I got the LE cover. I had a $15.00 reward certificate, which, with tax, I got the dvd for $5.21. I knew it was a Limited Edition, but only 2500 is only availabe with the DVD. That is a low amount.
Yea. I think all those old AB tins were at least 5k and some possibly 20-30k. Obviously this movie has a smaller fanbase than some of those but still 2500 means they are probably spread pretty thin throughout the country/internet.
2,500 units is pretty much the average for the life of most niche titles nowadays. My BEYOND THE DOOR limited o-card version was pressed 2,500, we still have tons of it in the warehouse, not gone yet, 7 month after street date. But it's amazing to hear CAT IN THE BRAIN limited edition sold out well before steet date, while a classic well known (and box office hit) Italian horror like BEYOND THE DOOR cant even sell that much 7 month after being released, obviously I must be licensing the wrong kinda movies. Maybe films from 70's and early 80's is not the ticket.
keep up the good work, i ordered Beyond The Door immediately on the internet! on topic : the lenticular cover is not the reason i have ordered this, since i already own the Japan Shock release no, it's the exta's that i'm interested in, with all that info on Fulci, that's really sweet
I saw it in Hastings last evening for $16.99, and it had the Lenticular cover. Now, I await it in the mail from Buy.com. $13.99 and hoping...
I ordered beyond the bore simply to support you guys. Cat in the brain at least sucks but has some gore in it . 70's and 80's movies are the ticket, heres to you putting out some of the good ones that you planned on like the mutilator, silent scream and all the ones most people are excited for.
tried looking around but couldn't find a straight answer, does an o-card mean an insert? and if thats what it is, how would you know if you were buying the o-card version or the regular before you opened it? i picked this one up real quick, but didn't know about this limited edition release....i would have picked up the two disc best buy edition of this and dead pit if any of the best buys in canada ever got them, but they never seem to. I love code red BECAUSE of the obscurity of their titles. they help me find movies i never would have seen otherwise. Unfortunately, the obvious downside of this is that they have less mainstream appeal. don't sell out code red! keep up the good work!
i seeeeee!......then....ummmm.....yeah.....i've got that one! cool! ....and codereddvd, sorry if i came off pissed...its actually a really nice slip-cover, and im glad ive got it....much better than those shitty ones that just reproduce the cover art.
if you'll read the previous posts, you'll see i was talking about the code red release of beyond the door.
I received mine in the mail today, and it did indeed include the 3-D lenticular cover insert! There's no "Slip Cover" as others have said, but a 3-D plate that fits in the front case. Blue Underground did the same thing on the Final Countdown 2-disc release.
