Will you be posting a review, Rhett?
You bet, it'll still be a few days at least before I can get to finishing it, though.
Awesome... I'll be looking forward to it.
That?s the best option for the Blu-Ray edition...
For the people buying the DVD, the best option is the Arrow version.
Received my disc today, don`t have time to watch it though, off to work i go go go....
Does anyone know if thd bu version is region a locked? They aren't usually but for some reason the recent django was...
I preordered the Arrow blu-ray from Amazon UK. My first time purchasing from them. It has shipped, and is estimated to arrive to me by June the 15th. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.
You know, I had always dismissed this as one of Fulci's lesser works. I hadn't seen it since probably first year of college back in 2001. Seeing it now though, I'm pretty amazed by all the impressive set pieces and sequences. This really is a master at work. Hell, I even found a lot to like about that infamous ending.
Great review... thanks Rhett!
not particularly a huge fan of this one so i just basically got the new special edition dvd for free with a store credit might as well upgrade the picture quality
No, this is'nt region locked although I would go for the Arrow release which popped through my letterbox today!! Shame about Django blu Ray.I wanted to upgrade my DVD to this
Django being region locked could imply another (European?) release is on its way. Probably a rights thingamajigg.
New desktop background acquired.. Thank you!
About that Arrow special edition: I know it's region free, but I heard about another one of their titles that was region-free where the movie played fine on a PS3, but some or all of the extras didn't play at all because they were in PAL format. Is that the case with the UK bluray? Or will all of the special features play, as well as the movie? I've already got the Blue Underground blu and am quite pleased with it, but I really want those Arrow extras. Any info would be appreciated?
just watched COTLD at the bloor cinema on thursday. print was beat to hell and had german subtitles, but it only made the experience better. great film to see on the big screen. i'll definitely be picking up at least the arrow, possibly the blue underground blu rays once my next paycheck hits.
All of the special features are in HD except one (Fulci in the House - The Italian Master of Splatter). So you should be okay with the PS3.
Damn man, I was SO close to going to see that Thursday night! Fuck, we walked up to the booth and contemplated grabbing tickets (this was around 9pm) but ended up going for drinks at the Red Room instead.
I received my Arrow blu-ray in the mail. The main feature, the trailer, and the photo montage all played fine in my PS3. Nothing else would. I have the latest firmware updates so that wouldn't be the problem. Luckily I have a blu-ray player on my PC, so I was able to skim the extras to be sure it wasn't a defective disc. Everything played fine on my PC.
Apparently someone on another forum said the reason that most of these extras won't play is they are 1080i/50hz which they say is not supported by the PS3 and some domestic blu-ray players.
I'm just glad I can watch them on my PC player, which I use a 1080p 24" LCD HDTV.
aahhhhh, the red room
got more than a few fond memories of that place.
the wife and i bought tickets right around 9 as well. probably walked right by you without even knowing it.....creepy:nervous:
Damn, I wanted to go to that as it is my favourite Fulci film, but was in Montreal at the time. I saw The Beyond last year at Bloor Cinema though which was pretty awesome!
