Is this only on Blu-Ray? Call me crazy, I've never seen it. I really want to, but is this special edition by Blue Underground DVD too?

Blue Underground has both new Blu-ray and DVD versions available. The DVD is missing most of the extras, but has updated picture and sound to match the Blu-ray. It's a must see, get it my friend!

Gah I hate when the DVD doesn't have all the extras the Blu-Ray gets. But I shall be getting this! :)

Buy the Arrow Dvd instead... excellent picture/sound and almost 4 hours of extras...

Just ordered mine. I recently got an award at work, but it's in the form of a gift certificate you can only use at a handful of websites. One was a CD seller, and I took a look, and they had the City of the Living Dead Blu-Ray. Needless to say, that's where the award went.

I remember the boss calling me up at the meeting, congratulating me, and handing me the award. She should have added, "Thank you for your hard work. Now go enjoy a woman vomiting up her own intestines"

I ordered the Blu-ray from Borders for just $17.99 after a 40% off coupon the other day. Added a paperback book and got free shipping.

This isn't one of my favorite movies or anything, but the Blu-ray screencaps look so superior to the old Anchor Bay DVD that it's hard not to want to upgrade here.

Okay, YAY! So I just ordered this. I'm very excited to see it!
But I also ordered House by the Cemetery along with it. I've seen SOME of it, and I thought it was pretty good, but I never really had a chance to see all of it. Good choice? lol, oh and is there any news of that getting a special edition as well? Both The Beyond and COTLD both have special editions and HBTC seems to be the only Gates of Hell movie without one. hmm...

yes, house by the cemetery is fantastic! i'm suspicious of an upcoming SE of that as well, since BU has just recently done COTLD and New York Ripper, but you really can't go wrong with it. great buys!

Picture on the German boxset is fine - much better than the EC release and USA Anchor Bay release from years back. Extras are: English and German trailers, 2 "Gates of Hell" USA radio spots, "Gates of Hell" slideshow (which includes a German newspaper clipping and various worldwide VHS, DVD covers like the EC version did. Even the Anchor Bay DVD cover makes an appearance!) another extra was the Italian opening credits with many actor's names sans Anglo pseudonyms. The Screenshots option is scenes from the film - not as clear and sharp as they were on that Sony laserdisc from 1990 but fun to have.
I love how much "Gates of Hell" shows up on this set (including the packaging). A little booklet is included which shows how they made the bust and packaging. I'm number 113 out of 500.
Now I'm ready for the USA SE's and I may get the Arrow one, too. I have the VIPCO DVD which has Catriona's commentary (as it has been ported over to the Arrow release as well) but I'd love to see more of her.

I watched the BU version the other night and I wasn't that impressed with the transfer. I thought it was o.k. Rhett mentioned the excess noise from the digital sharpening in his review and it is very distracting during the whole cemetery scene with Christopher George and MacColl underground in the coffin. Overall, BU did a nice job though.

I watched my AB DVD last week and didn't think the grain was that annoying. Actually I think the film looked great but I can understand the grain would be a problem when projected.
