I just finished watching this (actually watched it on a double bill with the original just to refresh my memory) and really enjoyed it. After a slow paced (but not boring)first half, the action is frenzied and well done. The movie avoids being a straight up Halloween 2 clone by adding alot of cops and shift in scenery to the final third with a great final showdown. It was pretty cool as well that the film brings back the entire original cast (most of them playing dead bodies of course).

Any news on when this will hit North American shores?

No clue. But if it follows how long the original film took, it'll be a year or two. :eek1: I had the R2 DVD release of the first film about 2 years before the R1 DVD appeared.

As someone who prefers the 70's and 80's slashers, I was really frightened by Cold Prey and its sequel. This decade has seen few really strong slashers, and I wouldn't hesitate to assign both of these to that short list.

Many have compared Cold Prey 2 to Halloween II (one of my absolute favorites). It uses the hospital setting to great effect, and it observes one of the points of criticism against that movie by having the final girl not be the only patient (imo, the lack of patients never hurt the scare factor of Halloween II, though). And much like Halloween II, Cold Prey 2 leaves you wondering how they could ever do a sequel.

From what I hear, it's going to be a prequel.

You mean the 3rd film, correct?

Cold Prey really surprised me, so i bought the Singapore Import of COLD PREY 2.
This sequel is very well done, as was the first, but doesn't have the magic of the original.
Still worth watching at least once, and I will definitely be checking out the 3rd film coming in October.

I enjoyed Cold Prey. Bought the R1 release last...May (?).

    6.5/10

Wasn't perfect. Wasn't original. Wasn't creative. But it was effective, and for that, I liked it. :)

I broke down and ordered part 2 from Amazon UK last week. I'm sick of waiting for a R1 release of this, plus there were a couple of other movies I wanted to pick up anyway from them. Can't wait for it to arrive now so I can watch it again!

You know of course that now there'll be a R1 release announced any day now.

I think part 3 may be called Cold Prey 3: Season of Witch as It did remind me allot of Halloween 2. Saying that I thought this one improved on the first. I'm generally not too big on slashers but this one was pretty well done. With the Cold Prey films, Dead Snow, Hidden, Next Door and Villmark, It's good to see some quality horror coming out of Norway.

This was more enjoyable than the first film for me. It also reminded me of Halloween 2 with the unkillable (is that a word?) maniac and mostly set in a hospital. I couldn't help but notice that there was a Burger King wrapper in both of the films so I paid attention during the credits and saw that they were mentioned. It did feel to me that the people that were killed in this one kind of deserved it. It's one of those occasions where the sequel outdoes the original.
