I picked this up, it has both cuts of the movie and all the great special features from the director's cut dvd. plus its damn cheap. For a closer look you can check out my review here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGfiME2on00 where i also look at blu's of Munich, Adventures of Ford Fairlane and The Running Man special edition.
I love the extended violence in the tool shed scene Always had a feeling that the scene had been edited in the R-rated version. Especially when Arnie shops off the badguys arm.
It's an exclusive "Metalpak" at Best Buy here in the USA... but of course they're sold out online and it doesn't even show in stock at any nearby stores here. Best Buy have to be the worst about their exclusives...they never have 'em!
Out of stock online. Hope they re-stock soon. The closest actual Best Buy store to me is around a 2 hour drive. :/
It's back online at BB, but I would suggest waiting for your store to get some. I ordered one from online and it came in the worst shape of anything ever in my mail. The metal case was literally (the real old fashioned literal, not Will Smith's retarded kids version) busted in half as a pin was missing from the spine to hold it together. Plus it had huge dents all over both sides and the edges. Thankfully they got 2 copies in store Sunday so I could exchange. Sounds like most stores did get them in, but only 2 copies here, the other one was gone by Monday and now it's an empty slot on the rack. Watched last night and this is some mighty fine 80's cheese! Good times!
I double checked the OP to make sure someone didn't just bump an old thread - is this release a Best Buy version of the recently-issued Japanese steelbook? The transfer is indeed very nice but if this is even better I won't hesitate to double dip.
Costs more to import it than to just grab the BB release here. Yeah, I can definitely wait to find it in a store. Getting damaged goods from Best Buy through the mail is commonplace with them. My last online order with them had a damn slash mark through a back cover.
The closest one available in store to me is an hour away as well. I'm sure they'll be flooding the racks soon enough. Jesus Christ though, I haven't even opened the triple pack yet. http://www.amazon.com/Alien-Predator-Commando-Three-Pack-Blu-ray/dp/B001G7Q1PO/ref=sr_1_6?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1432136384&sr=1-6&keywords=commando
Yeah, my order had 3 things. 1 was instant returned so I'm not sure how damaged it was (was gonna try to make some $ of 50 Shades of Grey steelbook, but the day before my order came in the mail, 10 copies popped back into the store), but this and Kingdom of Heaven were crushed and fucked. I had to exchange KoH also since all 4 corners were smashed on the case, and 3 of them had rips on the cover. Plus a price match on KoH which dropped $5 the day after I ordered. I can say the in-store service on all this was excellent though, so kudos to that! Got exchanged, returned and price adjusted without any issues. I also asked if they get lots of returns/exchanges for damaged online orders, but they said 'not really'. Either we are all unlucky, or Joe Public doesn't mind damaged cases.
I just bought it online and will be picking it up tonight at the Baldwin store in Long Island...only about 15 min from where I live.
I stopped by Best Buy on my way home and picked it up today - problem is when I got home i noticed it says its on sale on bestbuy.com for 7.99 - the store charged me full price 9.99. It does not say online price only- but doubt worth my time to even mess with it. This is another reason why I am almost never in Best Buy anymore. In better news I did pick up The Raid 2 and The Raid Redemption blus (both includes UV copy) for buy one get one free - so at 9.99 it only cost me 5.00 each. I have never actually seen either but Ive heard good things so at 5.00 each plus digital copies figured it was worth it. The Raid two does not even have anything on the back cover or packaging stating it comes with a digital copy but the code was inside when I opened it up - so bonus there.
FYI they had the Commando at my BB in a weird place - so doesnt hurt to ask them if they have one or look around - they seem to put steelbooks in a particular area by themselves
Success! Found a copy at a BB 30 minutes from me. It rang up $9.99, but I told the cashier it was $7.99 on their website, so I got him to price match.:glasses:
