I'm going to have to go with Killer Klowns from Outer Space. I loved having this movie on a VHS dub as a kid and was super excited to get it on DVD. It was one of my first DVD purchases ever and I've watched it countless times. Well obviously not as terrifying or highly regarded as some of the other MGM films in their collection, this wacky film holds a special place in my collection. "Killer Klowns, from outer space... Holy shit..."
I'll have to go with Child's Play. I love the film and watched it numerous times over the years as a kid and the 20th Birthday Edition DVD released two years ago was an awesome release. I haven't picked up the Blu-ray yet, but plan to soon.
Damn...kinda tough, but I guess i'll go with Return Of The Living Dead! With The Omen and The Howling close behind.
The Beast Within - This flick creeped me out when I first saw it on cable back in the 80's. It always stuck with me and is due for a revisit this month! There are so many good MGM titles, but I'll go with the Beast.
The Fog (1980). For reasons of both nostalgia and quality. This movie came out when I really began to realize just how much I love horror movies. I was thrilled with the TV spots that showcased the hands bursting through church windows and proclaimed that this was the new film from the director of Halloween (which rocked my young world two years before). It is one of the first horror movies that I remember actually asking to go see when it originally came out. and to this day remember it being one of the best theatrical movie experience of my life. To this day it's a movie that I can watch over and over again without getting bored.
MGM has picked up and distributed some great horror films like Child's Play, The Brood, Return of the Living Dead, and Audrey Rose, but as far as their actual in-house productions go my pick is: Poltergeist. Such a scary 'ghost' story that didn't need an R-rating.
Favorite MGM? Child's Play. The first one is just damn frightening and Brad Dourif's voice really gets to you.
Which is my favorite? "That's not a bad question Rhett!" Easily ROTLD. Just watched it again last week. Everything about it is awesome. Great lines, great gore, great atmosphere.
I'm going to have to go old school here and select "Masque of Red Death" Yeah, it's not the scariest film in their catalog. But, the Saturday matinees of my youth are what led me to a love of horror films and nothing was more influential to me than the Price/Corman films of the 60s and this has always been my favorite of the lot.
I love Carrie, not only my favorite MGM horror film but one of my all time favorite films. MGM has so many great releases, with hopefully many more to come !
MGM has such a great catalog of title. I would have to say ROTLD would be my favorite though. It's easily the best American (non-Romero) zombie movie.
