One of the distinguishing qualities of the old slashers were their fixation on significant holidays and dates. October 13th sounds like the perfect day for a horror movie, but it's actually the day that the birthday slasher HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME hits DVD. We've got three copies to give away courtesy of Anchor Bay, and all you've got to do is tell us: what's your favorite horror movie holiday?

We've got three copies to give away courtesy of Anchor Bay, and all you've got to do is tell us: what's your favorite horror movie holiday?

We've got slashers set on Halloween, Friday the 13th, Graduation Day, Christmas, New Years, Prom Night, Valentine's Day and even on a (bloody) birthday. That's just the tip of the iceberg, so tell us, which date do you like most for your horror?

Post a single response in this thread and be entered to win 1 of 3 copies of HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME on DVD. Anchor Bay is also throwing in a pack of promotional HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME balloons to the first place winner.

Contest ends a week from today, Tuesday, October 20th, where 3 winners will be randomly drawn.

So let's hear it: what's your favorite horror movie holiday?

If anyone answers anything other than Halloween, they're just lying to themselves. It's an absolutely great film in the same realm as Psycho, Jaws or any other horror classic. It falls on the BIG horror-themed holiday. Everything about it is absolutely perfect.

I even proposed to my now-wife on Halloween night whilst watching it. You can't get any better!

Halloween although Black Christmas is close behind. And I also really like My Bloody Valentine, April Fool's Day, Friday the 13th and Terror Train.

since over here we're not REALLY into Halloween, i can safely say Christmas

this is mostly due to Black Christmas, the original of course (even though i liked the remake)

I have to go with Halloween (the original). I wish I could be a little more original but I would be lying if I picked anything else.

Christmas is my favorite horror movie Holiday.

If I had to pick a movie, it would be Black Christmas '74.

But I love SNDN, To All a Goodnight, Gremlins...etc...Christmas Evil is also at times a fine choice. :)

Silent Night, Deadly Night. Ever since I bought the double feature DVD I watch both every XMas Eve. It has someone dressed up as the icon of that holiday killing people. That's the epitome of a holiday slasher!

***I already have a copy of this movie, well 2 of em (I have both versions), no need for me to win. Just wanted to chime in my choice.

Although, Christmas has some fun slashers, BLACK CHRISTMAS, SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT; I will have to go with HALLOWEEN. Nothing is more terrifying then a masked stranger following the young protagonist in a foggy cemetery on all Hallows Eve or worse, in your own home. Of course, horror never needs a reason to scare and no holiday is safe. Summer Holidays, April Fools Day and Valentines Day!
