Creeepshow for me, specifically "Something to tide you over". I Saw this at about 12 years old and couldn't help thinking over and over how horrible a way to die that would be. It was also the first time I'd seen Leslie Nielsen play a bad guy even though he was still funny in a real evil way.
The episode "Trick or Treat " from the series Tales From The Darkside. I watch it every Halloween, it's just great. "You're getting warmer......" .
I really liked THE EYE From John Carpenters BODY BAGS. Tobe Hooper does a great job and Debbie Harry and Mark Hamil it was a blast to see them having so much fun. I also thought that THE BLACK CAT from TWO EVIL EYES was a blast to watch. Twisted and disgusting too!! Great Halloween stuff.
The House That Dripped Blood is my favorite as well. All 4 stories are good and the cast is sensational: Denholm Elliott, Peter Cushing, Joss Ackland, Christopher Lee, Jon Pertwee, and Ingrid Pitt. But I'd lean to Method For Murder as well. Elliott is really sensational in that one. Dominic!
It's close between "Lover's Vow" from Darkside and "The Crate" from Creepshow. I think Lover's Vow getst he edge as it scared me when I was a teen. The Crate freaked me out, but was more fun and somehow didn't seem as real. The first time I watched Darkside I didn't understand movies were make believe and thought I had just watched those guys die in the opening. When the one dude yelled for help, it just sent chills all through me I can almost still feel everytime I watch. Honorable mentions go to: Jody Verrill The Raft Werewolf Concerto from Tales from the Crypt Reluctant Vampire from Tales.
My favorite is "Drowned" from the film Necronomicon. It was directed by Brian Yuzna, Christophe Gans and Shusuke Kaneko.
I love Creepshow as my favorite anthology. I have to go with "They Are Creeping Up on You" -the last segment with E.G. Marshall. It's not only creepy, because of the bugs, but E.G. Marshall was so funny and outstanding in this segment. The Crate is a very close second as was the first segment with corpse returning from the grave for his cake. I love anthology films, but Creepshow is by far the best.
I am not a huge fan of horror anthologies but after seeing Trick R Treat last week I loved the Halloween feel and it was a fun movie. I would say it ranks at the top for me now with Creepshow a close second. So the particular segment in Trick R Treat I liked the most? Hmmmm- probably the portion with the kids and the Bus.
Up until about a week ago, I would have said something from Creepshow, but I recently watched the original Tales from the Crypt and LOVE the Santa segment with Joan Collins!
Gonna go with one no one expects: An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge from the final season of The Twilight Zone. I saw it for the first time in 11th grade in a very cool sci-fi/fantasy class that I was in, and it's stuck with me ever since.
I'd laugh if I won, cuz I own no Blu-Ray. The Raft segment from Creepshow 2. Oh wait, I do love Bobby from Dead of Night.
