I attended a screening of this movie earlier tonight. There doesn't seem to be much info out there about it. I couldn't even find a trailer, and I could only find two stills from the movie. It's a new found-footage horror movie from Blumhouse Productions (Paranormal Activity and Insidious), and it stars Mark Duplass.

This movie probably isn't for everyone, but it totally worked for me. I loved it. This coming from someone who generally dislikes found-footage and mumblecore. It's quite possibly the scariest comedy I've ever seen. The humor and the horror work extremely well here. Which isn't necessarily to say you're supposed to be laughing, most of the humor comes from the awkwardness of the whole situation. It keeps you on your toes though, because you never know when the movie is going to go for a joke or a scare. And there are moments here that are genuinely frightening.

Also, it's pretty remarkable how easily Mark Duplass can transition back and forth between sympathetic weirdo and outright terrifying. It's also remarkable how his character can maintain his creepiness given how overexposed he is. There are only two characters in the entire film, so he has a lot of screentime... and it works.

I could say more about the film or the plot, but I think the less said the better. This one will probably work best viewed cold. And it's definitely better experienced with an equally unsuspecting audience. The twists in the later half of the film aren't especially surprising or groundbreaking, but it's still better left unspoiled.

If you can stomach the found-footage genre, I would highly recommend checking this out when it is released. I can't guarantee you'll like it, but it's definitely worth the try. I'll be curious to hear everyone's opinions once they meet Peachfuzz and experience "tubby time".

Mark Duplass has been pretty hit or miss for me, but this film looks fantastic.

Being released on DVD only on October 6th.

Very disappointed there will not be a blu-ray, considering the film is on NetFlix in hi-def, but at least the SRP is low.

It wasn't bad. Got a little slow for me, but has a very effective end.

My brother recommended this to me. Will be part of my October viewing, if I don't queue it up before then.

Best Buy has it for $9.99 as well. I had a $10 RZ certificate that expires in 3 days, so I picked it up today. I've been trying not to buy DVDs anymore unless they're like $3, but this movie is worth it. Good stuff!

Also pleasantly surprised to see the DVD has a few Special Features. A lot of these DVD only indie-horror movies they've been dumping out there barebones.

    Special Features:
    - Filmmaker Commentary with Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice
    - Deleted Scene: Cold Open
    - Josef's DVD
    - Alternate Endings

According to Mark Duplass on Twitter, Creep 2 is officially picture locked.

Also, Patrick Brice directed this week's episode of Room 104, the Duplass Bros anthology horror show on HBO.

Creep 2 will be available on NetFlix on December 23rd.

I personally found it disappointing, but I can't recommend the first movie enough.

Finally caught this for the first time last night. I thought it was really effective, kept me guessing throughout most of the duration. Glad I saw it but I don't see myself watching again any time soon. I thought some of the decisions made by Aaron?...I think that's what his name was......were awful at times and it took a little away from my enjoyment. Really cool ending though. I'll check out the sequel soon.

Watched Creep 2 as well. I think it was definitely several notches below the original. I really dug the opening sequence though. Thought it was very cool.

I believe the biggest down fall of the sequel was this:
there really was only two conclusions.....either he kills Sara or he doesn't

Where as the first Creep......that shit had about 83 forks in its road and could have gone anywhere.

Pretty cool little indy flicks..... I appreciate them, but I'm also glad I caught them on Netflix.....don't foresee many repeat views in the future.

Even though I wasn't a fan of Creep 2, I was such a huge fan of the first film that I did want it for my collection. Just not willing to spring $20 for a burnt DVD-R.

Had a pleasant surprise at Family Video today. They had it for sale at $4.99, and on top of that it's a pressed disc! The case and the top of the disc both have that little DVD Video Disc DVD-R Format logo on them, but the actual disc is a silver-bottomed DVD.

Used movies at Family Video can drop as low as 2 for $3 if you're patient, but I was fine with $4.99 here.

So if you're looking for an affordable copy for your collection, check your local Family Video!

Desiree Akhavan, who stars as Sara in Creep 2, directed a movie opening this weekend: The Miseducation Of Cameron Post.

I saw it last night and thought it was really well done. The movie stars Chloe Grace Moretz as Cameron Post, who is caught in the backseat of a car with another girl on prom night and is sent off to a gay conversion therapy camp called God's Promise. For horror fans, John Gallagher Jr (The Belko Experiment, Hush, 10 Cloverfield Lane) plays Reverend Rick, an ex-gay counselor who had been caught in a gay bar.

In a way, it's sort of a different spin on the summer camp movie. It takes its subject matter very seriously, but also has a very sharp and surprising sense of humor. I read an interview with Akhavan after, and she has a really great quote that sums up the movie perfectly: "You know that these are not characters struggling to figure out who they are, but characters who know who they are already, in a world struggling to figure them out."

Just thought this might be worth mentioning, as I know most of us aren't strictly horror fans, but movie fans in general.
