I watched the first two Lone Wolf movies today from the Criterion release. Sadly I found the quality to be disappointing. I'm sure part of this is due to the fact that there are three movies on disc one. Regardless this set is still a joy to have. I've seen all six of the Kozure Ookami films multiple times. Having owned them on laserdisc, DVD and now blu-ray. I own both Animeigo blu-ray sets as well as the Criterion but unless the films get stand alone releases I doubt I'll buy them again. If you haven't seen these films I highly recommend at least watching Shogun Assassin. Once you do you'll most likely be inspired to buy the entire series. The action is non stop and the violence is over the top.

Tomisaburo Wakayama kills a veritable army of people in these films and I couldn't think of any other film character that has more kills under his belt. Jason Vorhees has appeared in more films but has only killed a fraction of the people. I would love to hear other peoples thoughts. (I'm looking for up close and personal kills. Not people that used guns or explosives).

One of the highlights of my movie collection is the Alfrex Lone Wolf and Cub figures.

Watched Baby Cart to Hades which is the third film in the series and it was the best looking so far. That gets my hopes up a bit for the final three films.

So I stumbled upon a hidden surprise in the Lone Wolf and Cub set today. Tucked away in the spine of the case is a diagram/dissection of the lethal baby cart! You'll notice when you pull out the case with the discs that looking inside you'll see a half circle cut out of the inside of the outer case spine and a piece of red paper visible. You just open the flap of the spine on the outside of the outer case, and viola, the hidden surprise!

Got to admit that I missed this extra. I watched all six films and the extras on disc 3. This is a very nice set to own and well worth buying.
