I don't know. I saw it in the theaters and other than a few cornball jokes in it I actually liked it. Some scenes had a definite Scream-esque feel to them for sure.

The film I speak of is a Japanese ghost movie... that has the same name as that Craven flick. :) I should have put that in my original post. :)

I saw this at Best Buy , was wondering the same. Little off topic, any good websites that have a list or synopsis of various asian horror movies? I love the Ringu, Ju-on style

it's not complete by any stretch,(it doesn't have Cursed for example) but it seems to be pretty good otherwise.

I watched this last night....it's....odd. It has a basic storyline based around a haunted/possessed Convenience Store (!!!) where almost anyone going into the place usually dies in some bizarre fashion after they've left the store. And the people working there tend to go weird/insane. Not much in the way of gore, but some really creepy moments and some interesting things happen to the victims. It was obviously shot on a low budget, but that didn't take away from the movie, in fact, I think it might have made it better because they had to be more inventive. It really drew me in to the story.

I don't know if I can quite recommend it because it's a little off-the-wall most of the time, almost like a spoof but done seriously. But I quite enjoyed it until the end where they kind of lost the story and went for the philosophical angle instead. That last shot of the movie is cool though.

    Anyway, I enjoyed it.

    The eyes were freakin' creepy!

oh i forgot to mention that after the movie, I felt a little off. It's like what I was watching finally caught up with me and creeped me out. Of course I was watching the movie pretty late at night, so that could be why.

Hmm, I may have to give this one a shot, judging from your quick review of it. I may try to find another review of it to solidify my purchase but it sounds promising. Thanks Maskull.

Hmmmm, I was just on the HKFlix website and they have two versions of this movie listed: The US Version (80 minutes approx.) and the HK Version(91 minutes approx.). I checked Zip.ca to see which version I saw and it apparently was the 80 minute version. Looks like the one they're selling at DVD Empire is the 80 minute version as well. So now I must do some research and find out what's missing from the US version.

Here's a review I found at DVD Times. It's for the 82 minute version.
    here's one at ISpitOnYourMovie.com(80 min)
and here's one at DVD Answers(91 minute version. doesn't seem to say anything about the extra 11 minutes)

btw the review at DVD Answers if of the HK version. The one I watched from Tokyo Shock, the subtitles were fine.

I just bought the Hong Kong release of this yesterday, and it is 91 minutes. It may be a while before I get a chance to see it though.

I watched this tonight. I will definitely concur with the poor subtitles. And the explanation of the extra 11 minutes is that all the extras (Interviews, behind the scenes, and trailer for Tokyo Psycho) are added to the end of the film.

I also bought Tokyo Psycho, that one looks really strange too.

Cool. Thanks. Now I don't have to worry about buying the substandard release just for extra footage.
