I think it will be good, but I just hope it's handled right
I think this one looks good, and even though it's a 'modern' giallo, it looks like it may deliver the goods.
I liked the trailer. I think this one will be good!!
Soundtrack by Simonetti?
Someone else, money issues caused the change it seems.
It ain't a Argento Giallo without Simonetti!
it looks promising. i hope this will be better than Mother of Tears. I mean the man has yet to really dissapoint me, what i look for in his films are: strong colors, gore, and a good plot. Mother of tears only had gore. I hope Giallo will be good.
Here's a review from SGM:
Not at all positive I'm afraid.
Not all that well a movie I suppose. But it's what I expected really. And about those 80's Giallo rip-offs, I love 'em
Anyway, I want to see for myself. I enjoyed Card Player, so if this one's "better", I will enjoy it.
As much as I want to love this, Mother of Tears honestly ruined my opinion of The Man. He is now only a man. Not The Man.
The lame trailer, lame word of mouth, and those two "writers" lead me to believe that this will be another letdown. I'm not even so sure Argento has it in him anymore. Or rather, if he still has it, what's keeping him away from it?
He's had a few golden opportunities in the last few years - returning to the Three Mother's mythology, working with A-list stars, more recognition thanks to his films being released on DVD - and how does he use those opportunities? He blows them. One after the other. I'm not saying it's intentional. It just seems he doesn't much care anymore.
I'm extremely forgiving when it comes to Argento's later work as he usually gives me something extraordinary I can grasp on too even if the films as a whole leave allot to be desired. Hopefully there are aspects to the film that reviewer is leaving out.
The trailer looks better - a bit more pro than the previous one.
That trailer does make it look better, but is it just me, or does the lighting and cinematography for this film just look really plain and bland. That and it's a little disappointing that the killer doesn't wear black gloves, the standard of most giallos.
Here are a few more reviews..
At least a few of them seem to be more positive.
This better not be the poster or DVD cover art they are going with.
I sure hope not as well, that atrocious poster makes it look like an Italian remake of 'Speed'... complete with a Keanu Reeves impersonation from Brody.
I am currently at Venice Film Festival and the italian critics I speak with are negative about the film. Keep in mind that the italian press liked Il Cartaio so I don't know what to think. It's too bad that Giallo is nowhere to be found in the festival, which is weird since the latest Romero film is played here along with Rec2, Le Horde (a french zombie masterpiece) and the latest Joe Dante film. Will see Romero at midnight. Greetings to everyone.
At least the movie can't be as bad as that poster, right?
Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you make a terrible poster.
It's like the cover to a trashy romance novel.
Brody is seducing me with that look
