Yeah, and two paragraphs. Those are two of the skimpiest reviews I've ever seen on blu-ray.com.

Got beast within today, Great transfer, best I ever seen it look. The only gripe I have is a small one, it doesn't contain the original UA united artists logo in the beginning that we all seen on VHS, and cable in the 80's. They opted for a newer looking UA logo.. But other than that. the transfer makes up for it... Forgot how much nudity is in this.....

A unique experience watching The Beast Within on Blu-Ray tonight, I used to own the dvd but sold it off a while ago, upon re-watching tonight I realized I remembered none of it.
That being said it's a decent b-movie with most of the cliches I've come to expect from efforts of this type, lots of cheese and plot holes you could drive a truck through, but at least it was entertaining. As for the rape scene, I'm not a fan of the rape/revenge genre at all and find the idea of rape abhorrent as most do, but this was mere seconds, dimly lit and pretty integral to the plot. I really don't see much to complain about in terms of misogny, on a board where people have expressed their affection for films like I Spit On Your Grave, I Spit On Your Grave 2 and Last House On The Left. The Bigfoot rape scene in Night Of The Demon was much more graphic as well. If anything, I found the teen girl's treatment at the hands of her father much more disturbing, but to each his own. I also noticed that the abusive father in question is played by an actor that was also in another b-movie 'classic', KISS Meets The Phantom of the Park, portraying an obnoxious biker in that particular film.
There's gooey, gory effects, nudity, hokey make-up, and some pretty good performances from Ronnie Cox and RG Armstrong from The Car fame.
The Beast Within was by no means a great film for me, but it was a nice slice of eighties nostalgia. I could not help but think it would make a good double feature with The Incredible Melting Man.
I will also corroborate that the print used by Scream Factory! looks fantastic. For fifteen bucks at HMV, I could've done a lot worse.

yes I agree. the father dude was a real jerk, and to see him treat the daughter the way he did was very real and disturbing. I too have seen this dude in other movies too..He reminds me of ed lauter gone bad..

I don't know why they changed that 1982 original logo united artists in the beginning of beast within, it was part of the movie for Christ sakes. cant leave things alone... I wonder if the region dvd had that logo??

 Dude, it's from MGM. On virtually all of their DVD and Blu-rays, they alter it to the newer logos for MGM or United Artists now. It's just what they handed Shout Factory.

Is it really that apocalyptic that the brief opening logo was altered?

It was a cool logo, but it's just the way they usually do things now. Warner also alters most of the old opening logos now too.

I've seen the beast within probably 30 times over the last 30 years. I have absolutely no idea what the hell any of you guys are talking about (but I'll assume that Paff is being facetious). Logo? Really? I don't remember it. :eek2:
