    5, of course.

  3. Not my favorite, but it has to be a 5 - the ingredients are just right.

I'll say number 4. Ir's an excellent, fun film but there are a lot better.

In my opinion, it's absolutley a big fat 5!

  9. Nobody swing on me, but....

    I voted 2!

I dunno, I never really could get into this movie! I saw it when it 1st came out on VHS & it didn't stick to me. Granted I was very young so when the director's cut came out on video from Video Treasures, I gave it the benefit of the doubt & figure I'd appreciate it more now with my new found maturity & infinite wisdom....

...Nope! Still didn't like this flick! The zombies don't appear believable to me & it wasn't "scary" at all. The reason I gave it a 2 instead of a 0 is because I love zombie movies (ROTLD being my favorite) & George A. Romero did bring new life & a different twist to his "Dead" series.....but all & all I've seen better elsewhere and as a stand alone it doesn't capture me!

Sorry DOTD fans...that's just me! :D

I gave it a 3, I never really liked that type of genre, but it is pretty good, nonetheless...

I voted a 4. The racist cop, orangish blood and 70's fashions detracted from an otherwise excellent rating.

I could hardly disagree with your numerical rating, a number is a pretty arbitrary thing, but your reasons seem to lack a little foundation. The racist cop? C'mon, do you think he's supposed to be a likable character? Don't you think that character represents perhaps one of the issues that Romero is addressing with this film? Is this a knee-jerk PC reaction or have you just not thought about what the movie might be saying. Is the sheer idea of it too much? I'm not going to argue the blood, that seems pointless. But to say that the fashions of an era in which a film was made actually detract that heavily from one's enjoyment of that film seems absurd to me. Does it mean that much (or are some of us just getting too old to care?) What year is an appropriate cut-off point for acceptable fashions in horror cinema? Do you like anything made in the 70's?
Sorry, not attacking here, I just don't get the reasoning.

  15. Jesus christ, political correctness, and fashion flim-flam has even infiltrated the DVD forums!

No shit, Magnum, - can you believe it, man? I hardly felt like posting a reply to that but ignorant, misguided PC blabber and fashion criticism in regards to a horror film is absolutley the freakin' end.

    I hear ya!
This kind of craziness completely offends my sensibilities, and just about rules out about 90 % of my favorite movies.

This film definitely deserves a 5. I don't really think this film was meant to be "scary" per se, but more a statement on our bleak society, much like the first one was. I see this film mainly as a political statement, and that is probably one of the reasons this film gets a 5 rather than a 4. It has plenty of depth and it is craftly done, definitely one of horror's great films.
