So,will it ever see a proper DVD release anytime soon? And I don't mean the Jap version (which is OK). With most classic Gialli getting fine releases,we just need this one!! And yes I could do a search but damn,it's silent around here. And this movie deserves another seperate thread anyway,or my name isn't Crystal Plumage!
its definitely one of the most unusual films in the giallo genre. I have the Japanese DVD and while its not the best, its still a must see for italian horror enthusiasts. the soundtrack is very strange and you will think of chickens in a different way after watching this one.
It all depends on personal taste. The film itself is like an ART film. It has a Film noir look to it. Very stylish and well directed. I will admit though it bored me to tears. :sleepy: The only part I liked was Spoiler the dog blender accident scene. Other then that it was just sort of blarg. I'm sure there is allot of people on the board that love this film.
I'm looking to buy the King Records DVD (Japanese, R2) of this film, a second hand copy is fine but a DVD-R/burn/torrent/etc. is not. If anyone has one to sell, please contact me: chris.cipher[at]gmail[dot]com
I hope you're lucky because it seems the Japanese DVD is OOP. It was expensive already but will be even more on the second hand market. Some retailers still have copies left though. And welcome ofcourse!
ofcourse? Aw come on guys, you know that every movie will be released sooner or later in a definite edition. Do you still remember the old days, where one had to be a detective to get some movie as a copy of a copy of a copy on tape? One the one hand, the DVD is a great invention, but on the other hand it reminds me of the first holidays with my first girlfriend, when we had that room for us alone. Some days, we did it so many times, that going to the toilet was more intresting. Collecting movies has lost its magic!
For you perhaps. For me it's still a magical thing to find that long lost film I only vaguely heard about...But that's just me I guess...
Agreed. I think it is wonderful to discover new gems and to rediscover old favorites as they are released in better editions.
Yeah, I realise the Japanese DVD is oop. Can you post or PM me with details of any retailer which has a copy? I've googled this title's ass off to no success apart from a couple of Euro listings which resulted in the same result (i.e. on the website but not in stock). Thanks!
Still no sign of a release....bummer... Found some screens from the Jap DVD: http://flickr.com/photos/varlasdrive/tags/deathlaidanegg/ Ewa Aulin.....mmmmmmmmmm!
This is actually gonna be playing on the big screen here in Boston in about 4weeks (on a double bill with the frightened woman)...I have never seen it, looking forward to it.
This really is a great film. Love the story, shot with style, and good performances all around. Love the odd feel as well. I'd love a R1, anamorphic disc.
The strange thing is,there's not even an Italian DVD of this. This might indicate that the rights aren't even in Italy??
Thanks for the heads-up. I've been living back in Boston for a year now, but still forget to check for anything interesting playing at the Brattle or the Coolidge. I'll definitely check this out.
Dammit, I'd been looking forward to seeing this in the theater for weeks, but unfortunately I'm sick as a dog today. I'm going to split from work early and just go home and lay down. Too bad tonight is the only night it's playing.....
http://www.dvdaf.com/search.html?dir=giulio+questi%2F%2F&rgn=us&init_form=str0_dir_giulio+questi%2F%2F*rgn_us It's listed as "announced" ! (actually NOT announced so it doesn't mean much). Nothing more yet. Probably one of those bootleg companies. We'll see.
