Chiller's remake of Dementia 13 hits DVD on Tuesday (and Amazon has it available at a super reasonable $6.26). I went ahead and ordered it, as the price was right and I've enjoyed several of Chiller's original movies (Beneath, Animal, The Boy, etc). The trailer actually looked pretty decent.

Keeping my expectations low and will hopefully be pleasantly surprised.

It has been on VOD for a while now, has anyone seen it yet?

I should have posted my thoughts on Tuesday after I watched it, because now I'm having trouble remembering it all. It's kind of a hot mess, but I didn't hate it. It's a whodunit slasher movie, a ghost movie, and a home invasion movie all mashed together. Kills are pretty straight-forward, lots of axe throwing. Really great atmosphere. It's fast-paced and fairly well-made (beautiful location and well-shot). At the same time, there was something really clunky about it.

I'll probably cut it some slack because it feels rare to see such a well-produced straight-up slasher film anymore. This is probably Chiller's last original film, as they close up shop in January.

I don't know if I'd give it a glowing recommendation, but it's worth a free watch if it pops up on NetFlix or whatever.

Also, anyone interested in the DVD, no extras whatsoever, not even a disc menu. When you put the disc in, it just plays the movie on loop.
