From what I can tell, Dog Soldiers was originally released by Artisan (Lion's Gate), and rereleased about a year later by Fox. Can anyone tell me if there are any differences in the contents of the two versions?

I have a version that says 'Key DVD' It has FS & WS versions on the disc, a Featurette, Producer's commentary, trailers, and spanish subs. And the video quality is really crappy, but hey, it was $4.99.

Mine's from Velocity. Both WS(Anamorphic) and FS and the same featurettes as listedby Zoso. But I don't remember having any major complaints about the video quality for it. But my TV's nothing amazing.

I think mine is the Fox/Key DVD. I found it at K-Mart for like $4 and it has the WS and FS, commentary, Featurette, etc...

I don't remember the picture quality being bad really, at least for the WS version...never bothered with the FS version on the disc.

Got the region 2 from sendit or blackstar for about $10 shipped a while ago.
It's got more extras like deleted scenes. Picture is decent, but not reference quality by any means.

The content between the Artisan and Fox/Key releases would appear to be the same. I owned the Artisan disc first but I found the audio (not video) quality to be atrocious. I sold it to buy the Pathe Region 2 UK release instead. It has superior video/audio quality and the extras are awesome (including director/cast commentary, deleted scenes and Neil Marshall's short film "Combat"). If you have an all-region player, skip the US releases and get this bad boy instead.

Where would be the best (cheapest & most reliable) place to purchase the Pathe Region 2 UK version? I was not impressed with the video quality of the US release and I absolutely LOVE this movie.

This looks to be cheapest, it's 7.49 at bensonsworld.co.uk, or as low as 4.00 (remeber, they're pounds not euros when converting) used at amazon.co.uk if any sellers ship to the states for reasonable rates. I've dealt with sendit and bensons both many times without any issues ever, so I recomend them both.

And yet another company now has the rights to Dog Soldiers (the contract on this movie must be very short). First Look Home Entertainment is set to release the film in a new steelbook DVD and, for the first time, on Blu-ray on May 5! Hooray for Blu! However, this appears to be the same (or worse) content wise, as Neil Marshall knows nothing about the release (AKA, no one's contacted him about doing new features). I suppose it's possible that they've acquired the rights to the commentary, featurettes, deleted scenes, short film, etc. from the Pathe R2 release. Either way, quality wise, the Blu-ray should be good. I own two Blu-rays from First Look (The Breed and The Proposition) and the picture quality is outstanding on both. And, their prices are very reasonable.

I didn't even know there was a DTS version out anywhere.:eek1: Is it a full bitrate DTS like the R2 Descent? I'm half tempted to try and track this disc down now, but think I'll be content with the UK disc.

On a side note, my girlfriend finally watched this the other day after me hounding her for a couple years to. She was so convinced it would be a "stupid werewolf movie", but having loved the Descent and Doomsday made her crack and try it. Now this is near the top of the list of her favorite movies. Why don't they just listen in the first place?

This is the only review so far: https://blu-ray-rezensionen.net/dog-soldiers-mediabook-4k-uhd/

The 4K disc is apparently not really any better than the included Blu-ray, unless you get out a microscope. But it sounds like the Blu-ray is significantly better than the existing Blu-ray releases out there...and here are some screengrabs from it:

Finally a proper scan of the movie.
I kept the old DVD, and never bothered to get any of the BDs, since they looked like shit.
Now I can finally retire the DVD!
