Seeing as they have a Jess Franco double feature Blu on the way and just announced Crimes of the Black Cat (yes!), figured it was time for a standalone thread...
anyone know when the Jess Franco double feature will be up for order on amazon.com? I thought it was supposed to be available on November 30th, but that date has come and gone and it's not up, and I've not heard any other date mentioned.
The limited-edition pre-sale they had still hasn't shipped (is supposed to this week, and I'm waiting on my copy), and I know they sold much less of those than they were hoping to which probably changed up plans for the standard release/release date. Best would be to ask them on their Facebook page if there are any updates on the standard retail-version of the release. However, this was posted on their Facebook page on Dec.8th, so if you did want to purchase a copy of the limited-edition (stock depending) here's the info:
They said their distribution should be receiving them on the 21st, so if not today then the next few days they should be shipping out the exclusives. But with the Holidays in general I wouldn't expect these until January. I'm sorry to see a Franco release get such a tepid response. It's exciting for me but I know these obscure Euro releases have an ever dwindling US audience. It'll be a tough road to hoe for Dorado if they continue their Euro spy and crime movies into the HD market. It'd be my hope that the horror movies could help fuel their other releases but this is not a good start.
Not bad at all. They both looked to be pulled from prints but given that they are in pretty nice shape. The only funky thing is the authoring on the menu seems a little off, and it won't let you interrupt special features to return to the main menu. Having said all that, I'm very excited for what they have coming next.
I don't think this title will be a poor seller, I think the problem is many people will buy from Amazon but not Dorado films website, like me, I don't buy from companies websites, I order my movies from Amazon, I rarely ever buy movies from places other than amazon, I just don't feel like messing with ordering from companies all over the place, easier to get everything in one place, and also with Amazon you usually get a better price.
Email update on the Night of the Scorpion pre-order: I pre-ordered mine last week... did anyone else? That's pretty cool that they'll throw in a couple of free DVD's.
I like the cover artwork but have no interest in the two DVD's offered. $27.50 is a bit too much for a blind buy.
I bought the first Franco set and will buy volume 2. Still have to pass on Night of the Scorpion at that price.
I also pre-ordered Night of the Scorpion last week. The free DVDs are a welcome bonus. Here is an update on another double feature:
