Had the pleasure of watching this again recently after many years, and I still think it's a great movie. Not your typical Slasher but I'd say it has it's share of Slasher moments. Great kills and cheesy overacting (Adrian's meltdown) all add up for fun entertainment. Worth checking out.

Heh, yeah, this one was a fun one. Michael Callan definitely plays to the back row with some crazy melodramatic monologues. Seymour Cassel shows up too with a nice little performance. For a slasher the story is actually pretty well executed, even if it becomes pretty obvious what the twist is going to be a good 30 minutes in. Still, seeing that twist unfold and realize is half the fun.

There's something to be said for all these sleazy and story-driven slashers that came out of Australia. I've liked virtually all of them, although if you're going to double feature this you have to do it with Snapshot (The Day After Halloween). But Next of Kin is the best of the bunch down under, and Lady Stay Dead is probably the crown holder for the most in sleaze. Nightmares was pretty good too. All hail the Land of Aus.

Obviously a vanity piece for Callan. I thought this was very sleazy, but well done. Although, IIRC, the killer couldn't have been who it turned out to be. ... Was this from Australia? I thought it was a US production through-and-through.

Yeah, you're right. I guess all the sleaze and the similar subject matter to Snapshot (1979) had me just assuming it was from down under. I still haven't seen Houseboat Horror, but really, with a title like that I'm not going to be able to pass it up...

Just finished watching this one, and though it has some slasher tendencies it seems more of a giallo, (except a brown glove killer rather than a black gloved one.) I have it as part of the BCI After Dark Thriller set, and it plays like a cut film. Overall, an okay film, nothing to special.

Revisited this one last night via the Scorpion DVD. It didn't hold up as well for me. Needed more of the slasher stuff, it was mainly a character melodrama, and every once in a while they'd throw in a slasher killing. Still, very breezy and watchable. Interesting to see the very brief cameo from Victoria Jackson here, didn't she eventually become a religious fanatic or something?

Would be interesting to see the deleted scenes, Michael Callen mentions that about 20 minutes were cut. There are scenes in the trailer that aren't in the film, like the photo shoot with the girl in the blue bikini.

Am I the only one VERY concerned with Rhett's new avatar?

I just assumed it was one of those hotlinking things, where he hotlinked an image for his avatar and then the other person automatically replaces it with a picture of a dick or something. And then he never noticed.
