    According to Fangoria.com...

    http://www.fangoria.com/news_article.php?id=3670

Finally, Subversive Cinema gave Fango the scoop that it’s working on a new special-edition disc of Tobe Hooper’s EATEN ALIVE for 2006, with a fresh anamorphic transfer and special features. Look for a further update on Subversive’s slate soon

will double dip, depending on the extra's, etc. The elite DVD was non anamorphic, so hopefully this one will be.

I dunno. I was SO unimpressed with this film that I may stick with my Elite version. I'd maybe steal this new version...but I certainly won't blow good coin on it, unless the extras are out of this world.

Oh man, don't say you'll steal it..... how low is that?

I too didn't think much of this film at all. I came close to buying the Image disc because I saw it cheap enough, but even then, held off. The new version might sway me with extras, you never know. But it's not like I'm holding out for it.

I think this is one of those "so bad, it's good" kind of films, it's a lot of fun. I might pick this new edition up, even though I have the older one.

I thought this one was pretty awful, the print they show on the SCREAM network is abysmal. How is the Elite DVD?

Not worth the purchase. I picked up the Elite one for $10 and then traded it off. I was not impressed with this film at all!

Long before I'd seen the movie, I had imagined what it would be like by reading reviews that, while not good, still made the film seem appealing to me. When I finally got the chance to rent it, I thought it was okay, but was very disappointed because my expectations were so high. I probably won't pick this one up.

I can't wait for this special edition... I've always wanted to see it. All the mediocre reviews here have grounded my expectations, so I thank you all for your middling experiences with the film. :)

I saw Eaten Alive on a vhs tape I rented, and I thought the movie was pretty good, typical 70's rural/horror film. I don't have this film on any format, so I'd probably get a special edition if the film was anamorphically enhanced.

I just never got around to buying the old DVD, so I'll probably pick this one up whenever it comes out.

I have the Elite DVD of this film, and it's one of my favorites. Then again, I love most of Tobe Hooper's films, but "Eaten Alive" is a fun and nasty little film, and it keeps in tone with the 'Horror In The Heartland' Theme that Hooper explored in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." The films cast is good as well, with "Texas Chainsaw"'s Marilyn Burns screaming her head off once again, Neville Brand in a crazed performance, Mel Ferrer, and Robert Englund, before he became known as Freddy Krueger to Horror fans everywhere. I love how nasty and violent this film is, and it has a Great sleazy feel to it, that can be found in most 70'S Horror films, I always felt that "Eaten Alive" was one of Hooper's Best films after his Masterpiece, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". Hooper always seemed most at home when he was directing Backwoods Horror Films, and this one has always been a favorite.

I thought it was a cool film. It had a great low budget vibe to it while not trying to be another TCM. I'll probably get it.

Is the Image version cut? It wasn't in the least "nasty" when I saw it..... I was actually pretty bored. Damn, maybe it was a tape I saw, but I'm pretty sure it was the DVD. Is that a "nasty" in the terms of TCM, where it is implied with skillfully filmmaking, or do you consider it truly "nasty"?

Yeah i liked the film too and i also thought the transfer of the Elite DVD was allot better then what i had read. It's not the best film to come out of the 70's but it's got that gritty 70's feel to it that i can't help but love.
