Great quirky Spanish film from a great director. The DM guy was indeed hilarious, and the movie doesn't take itself seriously.

I really need to order the DVD, maybe I'll do that right now! Perdita Durango and 800 Bullets are killer Iglesia movies worth checking out too!

Thanks for the tip, Plumage. This was becoming impossible to find for a while. I love the hell out of it and I was beginning to think I was going to have to shell out big for it.

Done and ordered! Actually I was thinking about doing that yesterday after seeing it on the New listing page at Xploited. This thread kinda pulled me over and made me actually do it though.

EDIT: Damn, I think that was the fastest order time I've ever had with Xploited. It shipped within 10 minutes and I already got a tracking number! A+++

Received this one in yesterday's mail. Pretty nice DVD put out by 20th Century Fox (ES). It's not Anamorphic, but the widescreen print looks pretty damn good. Nice animated menus, and comes in a clear keepcase with underlay.

There's also a 20-minute making of featurette and director introduction to the film, with no English subtitles. English subtitles are just on the movie itself.

Has anyone gotten the German BR of this movie?

No, since it includes no English subtitles.

Lions Gate doesn't give a damn about more obscure titles in their back catalog anymore, if they own it in the states.

I have a Spanish R2 DVD (20th Century Fox Home Entertainment) that was released in 2001. It's non-anamorphic, but at least has English subs.

I'd buy a better Blu-ray import release in a heartbeat... if it included English subs.

His more recent films, The Last Circus and Witching and Bitching, have been pretty entertaining too. I think I'm in love with Carolina Bang.

The English language track is the most amazing dubbing ever. Joe Pesci nails the spirit of the film to absolute perfection. The original Spanish presentation bores me to tears and the subtitles put me to sleep. Ironically I can not find a single film credit with Joe Pesci and this movie er?

I just received the Spanish Blu-ray the other day, and it does have optional English subtitles. Lossless audio 5.1 or 2.0 options.

The transfer looks really good. There is some mild "scanner noise" that plagues some European transfers... but compared to the old Letterbox PAL DVD it's a huge upgrade.

It has the same bonus features ported over that were on the older Spanish DVD, and adds a couple of new ones.

Another entertaining De La Iglesia movie is Perfect Crime (aka Ferpect Crime) a very funny black comedy of an unscrupulous employee trying to get ahead at a department store. It's on R1 DVD.

Anyone seen La Communidad (Common Wealth)? That one seems to have a high reputation.
