The pics look good! I hope Phantasm is next on the list.
The UK release is out on the 4th of Oct and it's a Sony BD so should be region free
Wow this looks great. Can't wait for it!
There's a minor gripe to this release:
Look at post #265.
Oh well, that's not a huge deal. He was never meant to be there in the first place, so having him digitally erased isn't that big of an issue. That's not something that will bother me. On the Carrie blu-ray, the wires attached to the knives that impale Piper Laurie have been digitally erased as well.
Hopefully the transfer is the same then.
If fans get pissed about that then there really is no pleasing them. That's like being pissed about wires being removed from the Star Wars movies (probably the only good revision that occurred with the special editions).
Yeah, I'm not gonna go too apeshit over that change. Still keeping my pre-order for this bitch. If I had to make a short list of no-brainer Blu-ray upgrades, Evil Dead would make the list easily.
Yeah, it's hardly a big deal.
And unless you have the original Elite DVD edition of Evil Dead, you already have a version that's been altered during one place in the film.
im spewing the blu is locked had this on pre order for ages. oh well gotta settle for the uk one. on a side note arent anchorbay titles on blu usually region free? my dawn and day of the dead are...
That kind of stuff I don't mind, it's like fixing frame damage.
An unfortunate side effect of Lucas is that people have become against almost any alterations.
Can't wait for this...that review looked good.
The "big" review is live:
and its another extremely positive review.
Yeah, it looks sounds really sweet. I'll have the Blu-ray on Tuesday from Amazon. I pre-ordered it for under $17 and was just waiting to cancel it upon the first bad review I saw, but thankfully it looks like Anchor Bay got it right this time.
I swear, this is the last time I buy this film!
any word on the region locking of the american bluray?
last anchorbay/starz movie I bought on blu was "The Alphabet Killer" and it was region locked and stripped of bonus features...
The US Blu-Ray is region-locked.
Home Theater Forum has posted an interview with Bruce Campbell:
They don't talk much about the Blu-ray but talk a lot about his TV stuff more instead, which is a little refreshing.
In preparation for the Blu-Ray release, over the past week I began watching my THX DVDs of each film (at least) twice- once with (each) commentary and once without.
I got to Army of Darkness today only to realize that the THX DVD doesn't even have a commentary. WTF?
