I was wondering if I could get some suggestions on some good "Exploitation" DVD's. I was browsing the "Exploitation" section on Xploited Cinema.com and didn't know what ones would be worth the purchase.

    I have:
    "Ilsa" movies
    ISOYG
    Last House on the Left
    Thriller: A Cruel Picture

I just recently ordered 'Erotic Nights of the Living Dead' and 'Entrails of A Virgin'. I tried a forum search with no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. ;)

Last House on the Left is an aquired taste, I think. I'm a big fan of Thriller: a Cruel Picture, and I Spit on your Grave. Another favorite of many on these boards is Ms. 45. And a recent reveiw on this site of The Night Train Murders sounds pretty interesting. Have that and Ms. 45 on my wish list.

**Edit: Just realized you have Thriller and last house. Sorry. Anyway, Ms. 45 and ISOYG are great ones, IMO.

Cannibal Ferox is one of the best, imo.

I liked MS. 45, but it's very tame compared to some of the others mentioned--it's more along the lines of a female DEATH WISH. Was it even an R? I don't remember--then again, I saw it on VHS several years ago so maybe there's a harder version out there?

Yeah, if you want to dig deep, time for some cannibals.

    Satan's Sadists
Emanuelle in America as well as Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals
    The Driller Killer
Anything by Andy Sidaris, Al Adamson, Ray Dennis Steckler, Joe D'amato, or Jess Franco. Thase are some of my favorite exploitation directors.
I also love Elvis and all of his films are exploitation at it's best. My fave's are Double Trouble, Clambake, Speedway, and Spinout.
Also anything from the something weird video label is well worth your exploitation time with titles like Blood Freak, Satan in High Heels, Confessions of a Psycho Cat, Mantis in Lace, Basket Case (if you haven't seen that one) and all women in prison films are fun like The big Doll House, The Big Bird Cage, and Caged Heat. Hope these help out.

House on the Edge of the Park is a must and don't forget Don't Go in the House and of course Fight for Your Life.

Are you referring to Cannibal Ferox or Holocaust? I was looking at getting Cannibal Holocaust but didn't know which release to get. Which is best? Region is no issue.

Thanks for the info. I'll check some stuff out.

How about some Blaxploitation movies? Shaft, Foxy Brown and the infamous Dolemite are all great!

    Dolemite is hilarious!
Damn I forgot to mention Asylum of Satan (groovy as hell music too).
I agree with the above post that it's worth your while to check out the Something Weird dvds.

You need to see Ferox and Holocaust, PMcG. Both are favorites of mine, but I'd choose Holocaust as the beter of the two. It's a really great flick.

Someone else will have to help you out on which version to get. I think Dwatts is the expert on that.

Last House on Dead End Street is one of my all time favorites. Just don't go in expecting something like Wes Craven's movie ~ it's rougher :)

I own all the movies you have listed and they are all good examples of this genre.

The Ilsa films are definitely in a world of their own. Don't expect a great plot or story of any kind, just torture and sex.

As far as the revenge pictures, Last House and ISOYG are definitely the most well known and Thriller is picking up some notice after Quentin gave credit to it after he released Kill Bill.

Got my copy of Last House on The Left signed by all the baddies last weekend. It will now get a special space on the shelf.

Thriller has taken its place at the top for one of my favorite kill scenes (last one, won't give it away). And it has porn

As far as the cannibal films go: Ferox and Holocaust are the top two but there are several others that are decent enough if they are easier to find. ie: Jungle Holocaust, Eaten Alive.

House on the Edge of the Park was good, once again David Hess playing the best a-hole on the planet. And Fight for Your Life is good once you get past the fact that you are watching Larry from Newhart without Darryl and Darryl act like a supreme racist.

Last House on Dead End Street would have been better if it wasn't for the really poor quality. Almost unwatchable to me.

Cannibal Ferox was more fun but Cannibal Holocaust is the best made cannibal film hands down in my opinion, which happens to be right ;)

For the curious, who might be wondering what "exploitation" film is, I found a very good description here:

you can try Nunsploitation such as Flavia the Heretic or The Other Hell, Women in Prison movies like Caged Heat or Barb Wire Dolls, or Nazisploitation like Gestapo's Last Orgy and The Beast in Heat.

Yeah, currently the Ultrabit of CH is the one to get. Grindhouse keep promising their release of the film, which apparently will be in hi-def and have a ton of extras - but it's a long damn wait.

Clearly I've not seen the Grindhouse DVD, but I have a really hard time imagining it can look any better than the Ultrabit. It's that good. I won't be upgrading for damn sure.

Last house on Dead End Street really is on a league of its own, I reckon one step beyond exploitation. A great DVD release though.

Just buy all the suggestions here, you won't go wrong.
