With the HOUSE OF WAX remake the new addition to this long-running genre, the backwoods slasher seems to be one that audiences continue to enjoy. It has had a lengthy history, starting with DELIVERANCE over thirty years ago, but which one is your favorite?

...but several movies on that poll list are close behind.

Some of those films are not Slashers, but anyway I would pick TCM 1974.

Easily the best film on the list is Deliverance, but it is in no way a slasher. Backwoods? You bet! Slasher? No way.

The best slasher up for vote would have to be The Burning I guess.

I should remove "slasher" from the title, as it does seem to confuse things. Noted and changed.

I chose The Hills Have Eyes, but it was a tough decision with Texas Chainsaw and The Burning on the list as well. :)

Just Before Dawn, I also remember liking The Burning but it has been way too long since I saw it.
