With the release of the excellent new PHANTASM R2 DVD box set and the premiere of his new Master's of Horror episode, Incident On and Off a Mountain Road, Don Coscarelli is having somewhat of a revival. Although he is most known for his Phantasm films, he's made a mark for himself with other films like THE BEASTMASTER and BUBBA HO-TEP. So, instead of flat out making this a favorite PHANTASM poll, let's throw in the rest of his works. Which one is your favorite?

    Phantasm: OblIVion
Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead

Phantasm II is really close to surpassing the original though.

I loved The Beastmaster when I was a kid, but I voted for Bubba Ho-Tep. I just felt that it was a great convergence of genres, with an entertaining premise. It's filmed well, with outstanding performances from the main cast.

As much as I love the Phantasm series, I had to go with Bubba Ho-Tep. That movie is a riot!

For me it was a battle between Phantasm III, which i liked best from the series, and Incidents... Incidents won.

PHANTASM scared me when I was a kid, and it still works for me today.

    BUBBA-HO-TEP a close second...what a fun movie!

Phantasm almost by default. I saw the second one way back when it was in theatres, and I've had a real urge to see the others but can't find them at the shitty vid stores around me. :fire:

I really like everything I've seen from him, including The Beastmaster. :D

Phantasm of course, with an honorable mention to The Beastmaster.

I rewatched OblIVion tonight for the first time since I bought surround sound and I have to say that it's REALLY grown on me. It's just one of those films with tons of subtext that I get more and more from each time I watch. It really is a fantastic movie. I rate the Phantasm movies as such:

    1) PHANTASM
    2) PHANTASM OBLIVION
    3) PHANTASM III
    4) PHANTASM II

Phantasm II is a great movie by itself, but it's narrative structure just plain doesn't fit with the rest of the series. That, and Michael A. Baldwin was forcibly replaced by the studio. It has "Hollywood intervention" written all over it.

PHANTASM ,it made a huge influence on me as a kid,I always wondered if its' surrealism influenced the ELM STREET films.I loved BUBBA though, that film got a great audience reaction in the theater !

I think Phantasm II is better than the original film, so went with that.
