Count Yorga, Vampire gets my vote. Also love Blacula, Daughters of Darkness, Black Sabbath, Vampire Circus, and Near Dark.
Much as I love Lost Boys, Fright Night, The Hunger and more recently Let The Right One In, my vote right now has to go to Near Dark. The bar scene alone is enough to get my vote.
Tough one. I feel really guilty for not voting for MARTIN, but over the years I've watched and enjoyed FROM DUSK TILL DAWN the most.
Near Dark. It was one of those films that I recognized immediately as special. My grandma saw it the same night I did too (back on cable in the 80s) and so we both talked about how much we loved it. Good memories. Let the Right One In is still too fresh, but I felt a similar reaction.
I went with Let the Right One In, though From Dusk til Dawn and 30 Days of Night were both close seconds. I do enjoy Fright Night from time to time too... Near Dark was almost perfect - Spoiler I love the final shot, seeing Lance Henrickson in the car as his hand catches fire - that may be the best single shot I've seen in a vampire film ever. And Bill Paxton was great. But I can't forgive the blasphemously stupid blood-transfusion-saves-the-day that leads to a happy ending - I really hate the blood transfusion device in vampire movies...
Chose Fright Night, I dunno why I love it so much, I really enjoy the film and the acting and the effects are both pretty decent.
Lots of Blacula votes, I'll have to check that out again. I was probably thinking mostly of Horror Rises from the Tomb which copies the plot. Is Steele an undead witch in Black Sunday that also drinks blood? I can't recall. Blood drinking is so intertwined with satanists anyways, so that can be a bit of a gray area.
Went with Lost Boys, because of Jason Patric, and have seen it over 12 times, Near Dark would be a close 2nd.
