Well folks, it's time to vote. If you're American, anyway. The "political thriller" has more or less been dominated by political films over the years, but there are a few that deliver the sort of horror thrills we've come to love about the genre. Which is your favorite?

Shit that's a hard list. Not sure how much of a political thriller Escape From NY and LA are, but I'd probably have to go with The Manchurian Candidate (1962). (Although All the President's Men comes in a close second.)

Where's Three Days of the Condor? :D

I'll add Condor, but no movie with a hacking kid is making a horror list. ;)

If it were a kid getting hacked, then maybe we'd have something...

Escape From New York and Donald Pleasance both get my vote today. Taxi Driver ranks a close second.

Easily Escape From New York here.

What about Primeval though? That was as political thiller as it gets, plus it had a big fucking croc in it! The more I watch that flick, the more I like it.

I was blindly going to vote for They Live, until I saw Taxi Driver. So for me is Taxi driver and coming in second, They live, then Escape from NY. Anyways, that's a tough list. They are all good.

Poor little Parallax View getting no love. Easily my favorite political thriller and one of my favorite films in general. And, if you haven't seen it, you'd be amazed at how often it gets "borrowed" from. A truly terrifying film.

I didn't love it or anything, but that ending was truly memorable. Back when Hollywood had some balls.

The Parallax View is indeed a bleak film. Not for all viewing tastes, but highly original.

However, Rhett, you should add PEOPLE I KNOW. This dark gem was almost unreleased in the US (despite Al Pacino's great central performance). I suggest you check it out, if you haven't.

All The President's Men - I never grow tired of watching this film. Hands down the best and most suspenseful, as far as political fare goes.

Love ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN and MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE but went with MC as Angela Lansbury totally steals the show. BLOW OUT is another great one not on the list.
