If they made a badass Werewolf movie i'd be happy Ginger Snaps was badass .... Other than that i could not tell you (i saw Dog Soldiers once when i was lil and it scared the shit out of me... to bad i dont remember if it was good ) !
Bigtime generalizations... but: Psycho Killers, then Zombies, then maybe Vampires. Although, truly, the most consistently interesting and strong subgenre is probably sci-fi horror over something like slashers.
Apparently 13 years ago I voted for zombies. No way would I choose them now because I'm so bloody burned out on them. Frankly I'm surprised that I didn't choose werewolves. They have always been my favorite since childhood.
Werewolves for me, although it's strange because they are rarely done well. I do like the ones in the Underworld series, and Ginger Snaps nailed it, and AWiL is of course a classic; Howling, too.
Probably in the minority here, but I went for Ghosts. I still love the haunted house realm the best. (but I also love them all)
I went with "other". My favorites are of a breed you don't see much anymore, the suave, cultivated genius who's not so much mad as obsessive. They are determined to succeed in their purpose and if anyone stands in their way... These colorful characters were a staple in the heyday of actors like Peter Cushing, Vincent Price and Christopher Lee, or, if you wanna go even further back, Lionel Atwell and George Zucco.Peter Cushing in FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED is a great example, a razor sharp wit, dapper but so driven to prove his theories that he casually rids himself of anyone who opposes him."Evil" is just a word to him, his obsession is everything.
I'm an old school slasher guy, myself. Psycho human being killing insignificant characters.......yap, sign me up. Werewolves and Vampires are the bottom of the barrel for me. Never dug em. You can count the number of flicks I like from both genres probably on one hand. Ginger Snaps is cool, Howling I like......... I used to like Blade as a teenager. MMmmmmm yeah.
