Although we all have the horror genre as a shared love, I was wondering "What are your favourite 'sub-divisions' of this?" If pushed for an answer, I guess my favourite type of horror film would the "Dario Argento/Italian horror movie". It's a difficult choice, though. I really like zombie movies, maniac on the loose movies and supernatural flicks like The Omen and The Exorcist. Something which tends to be forgotten about on this forum is the Manga horror genre. Anyone favour this style of over-the-top shocks and spills? Lastly, what about Japan Shock movies? I find them okay on occasion but I don't think I could stomach a night's viewing of back-to-back Guts of a Virgin/Guinea Pig/Naked Blood style-movies!
Zombies. Definitely zombies. ------------------ "You know the rules, when we work undercover we have to remain faceless." "Oh, I get it, just in case we kill lots of innocent people."
1. Vampires 2. Werewolves 3. Zombies I really like the Subspecies series, though Part 4 kinda sucked. Kudos to Full Moon for producing such a great trilogy. ------------------ David W. Anderson - dave@horrordvds.com Webmaster - www.horrordvds.com
- Gore Fests - Slashers - Horror Comedies - Zombies [This message has been edited by MovieFan (edited 12-08-2000).]
Kinda like Vdlman and CTyner, but in slightly different order and with a clear-cut fave: slashers by far (especially the really good and really bad ones) then gorefests, zombies and (spoof/B-grade) comedies. Though sometimes it depends on the title: Dawn of the Dead is an all-time favorite, for instance, but I'm not as much of a zombie fan as many others.
Slashers, zombies, creepy crawlies, (Kingdom of the Spiders, The Nest, Bug, etc.) and Alien ripoffs. (Forbidden World, Galaxy of Terror, Creature, Horror Planet, etc.) ------------------ "Have you ever had an Egyptian feast?"
ZOMBIES, SLASHER, and Nature Run Amok(creepy crawlies).Nice to see someones else likes films like THE SWARM, SLUGS, THE NEST, BLUE MONKEY, EMPIRE OF THE ANTS,ETC. ------------------ I'm here to chew bubblegum and kick ass.And I'm all out of bubblegum -THEY LIVE
Monsters from the surf - Horror of Party Beach, Creature from the Black Lagoon, They Bite, Demon of Paradise, etc...
For me its Slashers by a long shot, then horror comedies, supernatural and alien films. ------------------ "i spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up for i realized what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply...evil." - Dr. Loomis, Halloween
The great classic slasher sub-genre, oh how I love it! ------------------ "It's not who you come with, it's who you take home." - Prom Night 4 "...find something you love doing and do it for the rest of your life..." - Rushmore
Horror/Fantasy would have to be my fav sub-genre... Hellraiser, Naked Lunch and eXistenZ. Werewolves are awesome!... The Howling, American Werewolf. They need to make MORE! Zombies... scare me to no end. One of my fav scenes is in Zombie, you know the fight between the shark and the fat dead guy underwater. It was very surreal, perhaps that falls into the fantasy/horror category. And who can ever forget the eye thing. Wow! And Anything by Argento. ------------------ -David "Didn't they tell you Kirsty, the rules of the fairy tale have changed. Not only am I the wicked stepmother, but I'm also the evil queen. So come on! Take your best shot, Snow White!" - Julia (Claire Higgings) Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 "If I go crazy then will you still call me Superman?" ... who knows, its on the radio all the time.
ZOMBIES!!! I could watch zombie movies all day long! Demons run amuk, chaos and gore films are usually disturbing and down right fun! (Return of the Living Dead, Night of the Demons, ect.)
My favourites would have to be Gore Fests, Cannibals, zombies, Horror Comedy, and anything done by Jackson or Shinya Tsukamoto. Shame on all of you for not mentioning the cannibal genre! There are some excellent cannibal flicks out there. 1.Ravenous 2.Cannibal the Musical 3.Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4.Cannibal Holocaust 5.Cannibal Ferox
ZOMBIES! I agree with David666 on the eye damage scene from Fulci's Zombie. I show it to all my friends and they of course think I'm a filthy psycho, but it's all good! ------------------ "I like that satellite TV, Pa!" -Ellie May, Redneck Zombies
