Favourite non-Dracula vampire

Discussion in 'Classic' started by Baron Meinster, Jul 18, 2004.

  1. Anyone have any favourite non-Dracula vampires?

I've always liked (in no particular order):

    • Graf Orlock (Nosferatu)
    • Baron Meinster (Brides of Dracula)
    • Count von Krolock (Fearless Vampire Killers)
    • Armand Tesla (Return of the Vampire)
    • Dr Ravna (Kiss of the Vampire)
    • Paul Henderson (House that Dripped Blood)

Graf Orlock. Far and above any of the others.

Zoltan. And the vampires from Tobe Hooper's SALEMS LOT. Count Yorga. Barnabas Collins.

I'm not sure you can count Graf Orlok as a "non-Dracula" vampire. The only reason he's not called Dracula in the movie is because of the copyright. Orlock IS Dracula!

I don't know if it really counts, but I've always had a soft spot for Martin. My all-time favorite is Orlock/Nosferatu from both the '22 and the '79 versions. Legosi, Lee, Oldman, none hold a candle to Schreck or Kinski.

Martin is easily my favorite vampire. and even though he was Dracula, Udo Kier gets honorable mention from me. Blood for Dracula needs more love.

I have two that I really like.

    Graf Orlock from Nosferatu
Martin from where else but Martin

I have to agree with Life o Petey though, Udo Kier from Blood For Dracula was by far the funniest vampire Dracula or not. "I must have the blood of wergins."

  13. I agree Udo Kier was great in Blood For Dracula ( one of my favorite films ) .

  18. I forgot to add Count Karnstein from Twins of Evil. There's also a great lesbian vampire from Les Frisson des Vampires who has a habit of leaping out of grandfather clocks at midnight and killing people by spearing them with her razor-spiked breasts.... :eek1: Where does Rollin get his ideas from?

Isn't Garf Orlock Dracula in everything but name anyways?

But Martin get's my vote along with Kinski's Orlock. Sure, I like the original, plenty, but the Herzog version is somehow better to me. I think I'll even watch it tonight.
