There was an announcement of a blu-ray box set, though it was never an official announcement, just from an "insider," but that was also back when they announced a box set of the first three films which, as we saw, did not happen.

Yeah, I don't think a box set is coming in the near future. Even after 7 and 8 finally hit Blu-ray, I doubt Paramount will be so quick to just package everything all together. I imagine we'll be waiting for a year or so afterwards, when Paramount can piece everything together and add some bonus disc to get everyone to go to the well once more. I'd recommend getting the Blus as they come out, or the DVDs if you don't care about hi-def, because these suckers are good enough to be supporting day and date, and they aren't going to get much better in the foreseeable future.

Yeah, that's the way I see it, anyway.

So...can we expect a review of Part VI up tonight rhett? :D

I disagree. There have been many cases where they released them all separate and then a box set later. They do this as a way of getting a double dip off people, or just because they don't want to wait till the end of the year to release them all as Friday the 13th is hot right now thanks to the remake. I bet they'll come out with a box set for Christmas, or early next year. It might not include anything extra, but it will probably be in a nice box set and probably be cheaper then buying them all separate, as box sets usually are. Either way, as great as theses releases are, I can def. wait as I have the DVD box set.

Some recent examples: Mummy Trilogy, Pirates Trilogy

Anyways, you guys could be right as the first three movie box set never ended up happening. But at the same time I have a feeling a box set containing all the movies will get released as they did release the old DVD set, and I'm sure they want everyone to replace it with the upgraded Blu Rays. Either way, like I said, I can hold out as it's not like I have a desperate need to watch them right now, and if I do, I can watch the older DVDs, even if they are slightly inferior.

Yeah, I finished it yesterday. Just sitting on it a bit to give the others some time in the spotlight.

I seriously doubt there will be any new box set, and even if there is eventually I highly doubt any new (or worthwhile) extras will be added. I could honestly care less about waiting simply for a "box" - I'd want them now to enjoy. I've purchased other movies seperately even when there is a box set available.

That's kind of disappointing. I may eventually get the JL disc sometime just to make a "fan edit" with the deleted footage put back into the movie.

I honestly don't know where I stand on this new transfer. Flesh tones look more accurate in the original transfer, but here look a little less real. However, the screenshot of the bloody cabin looks WAY better here (the blood looks darker, makes it look a little more real), and the decision to make the movie look a little more green I personally think works in its favor. I mean...forests ARE green, no? I think it looks a little more natural. The shot of Jason underwater as well I think looks WAY better in this version. That scene always bugged me on the original disc, because it just looked way too fake. I mean murky lake water is a light blue? The green tint looks way better here.

However, that said, I can DEFINITELY wait for the blu-ray of this one. The fleshtones will probably look a little more accurate (they always seem to in HD).

Well, you still gave the disc good ratings, but it just isn't up to the caliber of the previous two discs. Consider me still excited for the blu-ray version when it eventually gets released.

Yeah my blu-ray of part 2 arrived today. Wow this looks amazing. The blu of part 3 should be arriving any day now. What a difference though, Jesus.

Original poster art is always the best way to go.

I don't mind 8's, but 7's looks like Part VI's, but lame Jason stance and horrible remake girl in the knife. Meh!
