LAND OF THE DEAD will finally begin playing UK theatres this coming weekend!
go ahead say it. Its your favorite movie of all time.
I'll be in heaven when this thing arrives, along with the even more anticipated release of The Devil's Rejects unrated.
Seeing the advert on TV get;'s me so excited. Glad it's finally getting over here, and I can't wait to see it on the big screen!
wow, i didnt know this hadn't played over in the UK.. wonder why the delay?
YEah it finally opened in the UK today. Glad to say the first screening here in Glasgow was pretty busy too.
Thought it was real good.
Considering it was never gonna be another night/dawn/day type movie, and the only way it would get financed and made at all was if it was a modern version for the average viewer (who probably hasn't even heard of George Romero), they did a great job.
I think it'll improve with multiple viewings too, just like the first 3, looking forward to the uncut US DVD which is out next month.
Overall 7/10, but the uncut DVD will prob. be worth 8/10.
Really good film I'd give it 8.5/10, loved every second of it.
By the way what were peoples problems with the end?
The only thing I didn't like with the ending was the whole "they're just looking for a place to go..." business. I think at that point they veered too far off course of the premise for the series. In DAY, Bub was intelligent and had a bond with Dr. Logan [mainly because he fed him], but you never got the idea that he would forego the chance to eat someone if given the opportunity. Still, only a minor quibble with what was overall a pretty good movie that I'm looking forward to getting on DVD.
Yeah and how can you say they're just looking for a place to go? They've just finished killing a bunch of people, and chances are, when they run into people on the road, they'll kill them as well. So it's not like the "poor" zombies are peacefull creatures that are completely harmless and safe to leave alone to roam the world.

LAND OF THE DEAD charted at #3 this week in the UK.
I've just watched the unrated DVD (downloaded) and it's great, adds a fair bit of extra gore as you'd expect, some done as digital blood splatters but also quite a few extra flesh ripping, gut ripping/munching type shots as well. Also a whole new scene involving Cholo before he visits Kaufman at the start of the movie (the scene order is changed slightly here) and an extension to the scene where Slack (Asia Argento) is rescued near the start.
Definitely improves the overall movie, making it what it should have been in the first place and I'm sure closer to what we were expecting, or at least hoping for.
BLAST!!!!! Dammit - I waited all day to see this film at a local theater today (Oct. 1) and I misread the showtimes!!!! I thought it was 9:45 and it was really 9:15 - I still haven't seen this film yet at the cinema and that was my last chance!!!
<<<< SPOILER >>>>
A little bit of the extra gore:
I picked up the DVD last night--for those of you in NYC Kim's on
St. Marks has almost all the Oct. new releases out--this, High Tension, etc...
Anyway there is quite a bit more gore in the directors cut. The transfer and DTS track are sweet. So far I have watched the day in the life of the dead extra, shaun meets george, and the one about making zombiesi(a behind the scenes at KNB kind of thing) I am not at home noe but Ill try to post some screengrabs later or tommorrow. The Cholo scene is really cool. I will say that I dont remember the theatrical cut 100% as I only saw it once but I came away from the DVD viewing with an even greater like of the story/characters. The added grue is a plus as well--lots more muncning, ripping, headshots etc...
There seem to be some shots that are still nto in the uncut version as I thought I saw some additional gore on a feature that just strings together the feasting scenes...
All in all Im psyched on this!
Oh and the cover has one of those silly slipcases that has the same exact art as the cover beneath it--I dont get the point of these....
New update for youse who still cares: $41,717,749
#5 movie in the UK
LAND OF THE DEAD has now officially made more money overseas than it did in the US.
On October 17 (the day before the DVD's released), several theaters nation wide will be screening the Unrated Cut of Land. Check this link to see if it'll be playing near you, wago.
True, but they'll be screening it from the DVD, not a print. IMO, may just as well save the money for buying the DVD straight up.
Found this at creature corner... footage of the deleted gore from Land... some of the deleted gore anyway, all set to classical music of sorts. spoilers. NICE!
$42,440,737 Looks like it's finally Petering out.
