Girls Nite Out coming to DVD

Discussion in 'Slashers' started by IGotsNewShoes, May 25, 2005.

  1. I was checking out movies on Amazon.com and for no reason typed in this movie, to check on what the VHS was going for these days and found this page.

I then looked it up on DVDEmpire and it's listed there also with the release date being a week later.

This movie sucks so bad but I love it. Glad to see it's getting a DVD release.

Ahhh released by our friends JEF films. Ah well, still might get it.

  3. The listing at DVD Empire is 10 bucks cheaper and says it's being released by Media Blasters.

  4. Media Blasters? They'll hopefully do a good job! It's great that it's coming to dvd finally, though. If anyone finds cover art and/or specs, post it here!!

Well, if it's JEF films then the transfer will be crap. And if it's Media Blasters they'll probably screw it up like usual and leave 10 minutes out of the film.

Does that mean a remastered pan and scan transfer ( yeah right) wiht no extras whatsoever for 30 bucks or so?
Media Blasters: fifty fifty bet , some releases are stellar while others are awful

Yep probably so. Jef's DVD's often look worse than a VHS tape, and most aren't even authorized releases from what I've heard before. I'd still prefer the Media Blasters, but as you said...it's a 50/50 chance they'll either do a good job or botch it up somehow.

They sure screwed Monster Dog up, I was very disappointed that it was sub-vhs quality.

  11. The Media Blasters version of this movie is now up for preorder at amazon.com for 10 bucks.

The best "killer in a bear costume" movie ever made. I'll be getting Girl's Nite Out for sure. I enjoyed the whole scavenger hunt part of the movie, and the brooding main suspect and Vicki from Friday the 13th part 2 who talks about having sex with her cousin. Definetly not your run of the mill slasher film.

Here's the cover artwork for Girls Nite Out...

This film never had good video artwork, so this is about the best they could've done.

I am pretty sure that was the original poster design. At any rate that same pic is on the back cover of my VHS, so at least it is really something that was designed for the film back in the 80s and not some new 'Happy Birthday to Me'-esque cover

    Yup.

They've combined the original 1-sheet artwork with the font from the home video release. I was never crazy about the 1-sheet or any of the VHS designs that this film had, so I suppose this is as good as any. And at least they didn't Photoshop it to death. :)

Looks like as with previous Shriek Show titles, GIRLS NITE OUT will have reversible artwork.

    From Amazon...

I actually kind of like this one. I prefer the "Girls Nite Out" font on the other one, but I like the use of the artwork of the girl from the old THORN/EMI VHS release. Not sure which I'll display, but I can't wait for this disc!

Hmm, 2 sides, 2 great covers. I will probably display the other one though. It has more camp appeal. I can't wait for this one.
