Is the Alliance set similar to the Blu -Ray?

I saw in the latest issue of Rue Morgue (which is based in Canada) an advertisement which showed a Blu-Ray AND DVD set being released. Amazon.ca has a listing for "Grindhouse Double Bill" but it has no customer reviews and no cover artwork so I'm a little hesitant about ordering that one and I can't find anywhere else online selling a DVD version of this set. Weird.

You answered your one question in Matt89's comment you even quoted: "I dunno about the US, but here in Canada (since this set was released by Alliance) there was also a 2-disc DVD set as well. For those of you who really wanted a DVD release of this, you can probably find it on amazon.ca. All the same features, just on DVD.

Yes, that is the DVD version.

Thanks everyone for the info regarding the DVD from the Alliance. Just purchased a copy.

I wish Dimension would have released a DVD for the states but not meant to be I guess.

When you get it can you let us know if it's the same as the Blu- ray released here? I'm seriously considering getting one too.

The Grindhouse blu-ray has been a nightmare to track down. Makes me feel like the people distributing the film don't give a shit about it. I ended up ordering online after an exhausting search in stores. They didn't even bother to release it on DVD in the states!

No problem. It's also listed on DVDaf as a 2 disc collector's edition. Can't wait to finally watch it again!

Has anyone had the chance to check out their DVD to see if it has all of the same extras and special features that the Blu-Ray has?

Really? Every Wal-mart in my area has the blu for sale, as well as other retailers.

Dobby lives in Sweden, if I'm not mistaken, so would be a bit harder to track down.

i have only seen the full versions and i must say i much preferred Planet. I am not a fan of car films like The driver etc (Crazy Larry Dirty Mary an exception) and just found the full version of Death Proof especially scenes like the one about setting up the radio contest a bore.

Amazon CA just shipped the DVD, expected next monday.

I'm not a fan at all of the extended cut of Death Proof. I thought it was too bloated.

Now the theatrical cut isn't my favorite QT flick either but I find it much more watchable than the other cut. Still too much talking but less fat.

Planet Terror, on the other hand, rocks in either cut. To be honest I can't remember what's added in the extended except for one additional piece of gore.

Mine is on the way as well, but I'm still curious as to if the Blu-Ray and DVD share all of the same extras and special features or if the DVD was shortchanged which seems to be the trend nowadays.

They confirmed it was the same features on here and DVDaf lists the DVD as 2 discs.

So it's safe to say it's the same, features wise. We'll know for sure when it comes in the mail.
