What I never understood about the Stealbooks was that they included the fake trailer for "Machete" before "Planet Terror" but didn't included any others. Why have just one?

From what I've heard Rodriguez made his 'fake trailer' to always be a part of Planet Terror, not just part of the trailers in the middle between the films. That's why Machete always screened at the beginning of the movie also (unless a projectionist spliced it in elsewhere).

im sure later down the road they will hopefully try to release something like the Japan complete box set of Planet Terror & Death Proof w/ their extended/uncut versions, then their extras. then the complete Grindhouse film w/ trailers and extras. 6 discs.

Well, this is interesting, straight from Robert Rodriguez's twitter page:

"Editing another 10 Minute Cooking School. "Texas BBQ" for Grindhouse DVD/BLU Ray"

    ---------------

    Now I'm officially getting excited!

Sorry if its been said already, but what we need is an extras-loaded presentation of the uncut versions of both films, with the trailers sandwiched between.

Yes,some of Tarantino's extraneous chatter in Death Proof could stand a trim, but the gore re-instated for Planet Terror(and possibly 'Proof',though nothing seems to have been lost) was trimmed for the purpose of appeasing the pricks at the MPAA,and should be viewed as it would've been thirty some yrs ago in movie houses.Whatever each director didn't want(additional dialogue, etc) ought to be dropped.

Yes! That's a great sign that this is indeed the theatrical experience! Since on the extended cut, Rodriguez said his 10-minute film school segment would be on the special edition theatrical version, so 10-minute cooking school has gotta mean that this is the theatrical version, because you can't have cooking school without film school in RodriguezWorld!

I'm not really all that excited for this release. Seeing Grindhouse in theatres was a great experience, both times I saw it, but when I watched it again on Starz, it didn't do as much for me as the separate extended releases did. I watched those cuts again afterwards and I just prefer them more. I love both movies so, in the case of Planet Terror, the gore the merrier. In the case of Death Proof, I feel the extended cut is a richer, more rewarding experience. I don't usually like owning multiple versions of one movie. I know a lot of people do but I usually just own the cut that I prefer. In this case though, they really need a set that has the theatrical cut on Disc 1, the extended cuts on Discs 2 and 3 and the bonus features on Disc 4. It would also be pretty awesome to get a new, feature length documentary about the making of Grindhouse, not the individual movies. And, commentary by each director on the OTHER director's movie (Tarantino on Planet Terror, Rodriguez on Death Proof) plus a commentary track for the theatrical version featuring Tarantino, Rodriguez, Roth, Wright and I guess even Rob Zombie could join in but I don't need him. I don't own the Blu-rays yet so that would be a great set to buy.

Edgar Wright just posted this on Twitter feed: "So, get this, tomorrow I am doing a commentary on 'Don't'. Some of you will know what that means is finally happening."

I wonder if Grindhouse is one of the movies that the Weinstein Co. sold off to pay off their debt.

I dunno, I really enjoyed Grindhouse in the theaters but I'm just about burnt out on both films to really care at this point. A case of too little too late for me. Maybe if I can get it on blu sometime $10 or less.
