A list of Feature Films tagged "Horror" not rated higher than 4.9/10 (IMDb) released in 1976. These are the 20 most "popular" titles based on voting counts in this category.

Squirm, which I have found totally enjoyable on MANY repeated viewings. I've always thought it deserved a higher score.

Squirm, of course. I will NEVER understand it's low score on IMDB. Well shot, fairly well acted, has some pretty impressive makeup fx, it's actually really creepy in parts, and it takes itself more seriously than it probably should (but it works!). What more could you want from a nature-run-amok film?!

I voted for Creature from Black Lake. The Devil's Men is the uncut release of Land of the Minotaur, definitely the better version. I also like Satan's Slave.

Voted "Creature From Black Lake". Growing up, if "Legend of Boggy Creek" wasn't on, then "Creature From Black Lake" would do. Less effective but had the pitch perfect vibe for our household for some crazy reason.
That ending - laughable but always made us few fans smile in retrospect.
There are some great titles on this list and many I haven't seen yet.

Fuck me ANYTHING BUT gently with a chainsaw... I can finally agree with something you've said. 7 years in the making, this. Every single thing in that quotation is right-on.

I mean, I suppose the acting thing is debatable. And, there's that one scene with the board that's less than an inch thick rendering Mick unconscious...

But this film is amazing. I got into an argument once with a couple of guys who had the balls to tell me they knew Roger was going to become a near-SUPERNATURAL villain at the end. Meanwhile, bullshit. Who the hell could have suspected the movie would play him almost like he gained some kind of control over the worms, that they were almost helping him get up the stairs, possessing him, etc?

Horror ruled when it was inventive, people. This film is a solid 7/10. Nothing less.

Squirm is the better film, but I went for Creature From Black Lake...I am a total sucker for anything Bigfoot related, and those 70's ones were the best!

Oh, and Erick I can do you one better on one of those titles...I actually saw Ghost Story with my grandparents! They thought that they were in for a classy night of old school viewing with Astaire and Fairbanks, but the second thoughts started as soon as Wasson's member showed up plummeting from the skyscraper five minutes in...one of my fondest movie memories!
