I'm so happy, yet so scared.

This is great news, but I doubt I'll buy it. I mean, I'm rather unhappy with Shriek Show's presentation of the uncut version, and I love the film itself, but I don't really feel the need to purchase another version, even if it is an improvement. Not to mention that I don't have a region free player yet (I plan on getting one someday). :D

I also didn't buy Shriek Show's disc, so I hope this one will be a good one.

I'm glad I didn't wait to buy it. Why wait when classic Italian films come out? to be hardcore, you'd have it by now ;)

The guy who runs ABUK's site has posted saying this WILL include an English track.

I believe it was Synapse Films who originally did a search for better materials and came up with nothing, so I don't expect another company to fair any better unless they trip on it walking down an alley way.

I'm just happy that the best of what's out there got put out on DVD. That's realistically all I can ask from a DVD studio. I knock on Shriek Show all the time, this isn't one of those times. Probably a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation for them.

I know it takes time to go through old threads - but just to mention something I posted in original thread on the SS DVD release, I received an email in response to my original defense of SS from someone in the business who told me a pristine version of this film does exist in widescreen, but SS didn't have time (it came to light late on in SS's release plans) to use it. Here's hoping this new release is using that source.

I'm still glad to have the current DVD though, and can't imagine why a euro fan would have held off. There'll always be "better" releases of things (hi-def etc), so waiting isn't really an option for me if I truly want something.

I remember that, but didn't SS actually respond to that somewhere saying it was a fairy tale? I don't doubt one exists but it seemed dubious if he was telling the truth as he wasn't as connected as he claimed and SS said they've had other issues with him.

Well, you have to go on trust. I'd name the guy but he didn't say I could. However, I trust him as he's in the business, and has been responsible for other great releases. I guess in the end, all we got to do is wait. We don't even know this announced release is using that same found source anyway...

I didn't buy it because frankly my money doesn't grow on my back.Ever since there was talk of better sources I decided to wait.I do not want to double dip and be stuck with an inferior copy which I don't intend to watch again.

That was Touch Of Death. Too bad that none has ever found a print of that one.

Must be, going back and searching I could only find reference to this happening with Touch. Can't find anything from the horses' mouth though.

Bruce Holecheck said this about Lizard over at Mobius:
