They really better not fuck up THHE, there's no forgiving if they do. :fire:
looks like i'll be keeping my THX dvd. i REALLY REALLY hope they don't fuck up the Dawn DVDs coming out next year. that would piss me off greatly.
i know how all the great blue and orangish tints are gone but i think the new screenshots look more realistin like. this is just my opinion
It ain't supposed to be realistic, it's supposed to be cinematic. We strive for "what the Director intended", so changing it now seems odd. Maybe the extras make it worth it.
I went looking for this yesterday, but couldn't find it. I guess I'm not missing much based on those screenshots. I am soooooo glad I held onto my LE. If the 25th anniversary is cheap enough, I may pick it up for the extras.
Hmmm...Now im torn. I was really looking forward to this and since the oonly other version I own is the extended I was excited about a new dvd of the theatrical....but this is a mjor issue...im bummed..... :
Holy crap Mortis!!! You can actually see the brick siding in the first shot! That is swwweeet! BTW-Can you see Michaels face? In widescreen video, you can see his face when Loomis is about to shoot him at the end. But in all other versions, it seems they cut it out.
Imagine what would happen if these monkeys remastered Suspiria today.

My main issue with this is that it seems that whoever did the mastering was more concerned with fleshtones being pink, than they were the movie they were mastering. Pathetic.
I just posted the pictures from DVDFile.
DVD fan what's your take on this since oyu have it. Are the colors reaaly as altered as the DVDfile review states?
Check the screenshots I posted from DVDFile.
I saw them I was just curious of the opinion of someone else who had seen the thing---I guess Im grasping at straws here--Im just bummed about this....
You're going to have to live with it.. AB fucked up.. again.
Im thinking about picking up the LAST version that i never got for the 5.1 mix and the theatrical cut--but i was looking forward to the commentary and the new doc---sigghhh....
I've got the THX Resmastered Stand-alone version with only Meyers's mask on the front.
Is this transfer the same as the LE ?
And that's what people need to realize. The LE is still available, just like the AOD LE is still available. Anchor Bay just split it up into individual releases.
So basically we need the new one for the commentary, and then two more to cover the better transfer and TV cut. Real nice.
YOU KNOW IVE NEVER JOINED IN ALL THE ANCHOR BAY BASHING--I ALSO THOUGHT HTEY WERE DOING A SERVICE BY GETTING OUT RELEASES THAT LOTS OF OTHER COMPANIES WOULDN'T BE INTERESTED IN. AND ALL THOS MULTIPLE EVIL DEADS AND STUFF DIDNT CONCERN ME-I CAOULD PICK AND CHOOSE WHAT i WANTED. BUT TO CALL SOMETHING A DEFINATIVE 25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION AND BUTCHER THE IMAGE....
ooops-sorry about the caps--i had the capslock down for something else and forgot--im sorry.:eek1: :nervous:
The screenshots are a good representation of the new DVD. I would really like to know what Carpenter thinks of this new transfer. Did it look this way when it was originally released? Aside from the fact the the color might be turned up a bit, the transfer is really spectacular.
