7.99 at play.com but i've gone for hmv only 1p dearer and they post early.
Speaking of, I was kinda thinking it'd be nice if AB UK could release a Blu-ray set of the first 5 films (depending if they can get ahold of Halloween II and III).
Without the deleted scenes, I really see no reason to upgrade here unless they drop the price closer to the $10 mark.
i still think anchor bay should drop the retail price for broken promises
anchor bay blu rays do tend to drop in price eventually. i picked up halloween, hellraiser, evil dead, all for around $10. i'll wait for these to drop too.
I'd say the real reason to upgrade is the fact that theyre now available in HD??? I dunno, thought that would be a pretty good selling point. Yeah it sucks we're not getting deleted scenes but how often would you watch them? Maybe once, twice? At least we're getting the remainder of the Halloween sequels on bluray this fall.
Oops. Double post.
I hear you Matt. I think it's just a matter of AB becoming another Paramount when it comes to blu-ray. Remember when "Cabin in the Woods" was announced as an extra on the "Evil Dead: Book of the Dead" DVD? With only a couple of weeks before its release it was yanked due to copyright infringment with regards to the music. AB offered an explaination and an apology. Now, we get no explaination. It doesn't help matters that a lesser known company (Shout!) is releasing awesome editions of H2 & H3 that none of us ever thought would see the light of day.
The transfer isn't much of an upgrade over the Divimax editions, from what I've seen. Definitely not worth $20 apiece. I'd go $10-$12 each, and no more, considering the lack of extra content. I have the Divimax versions and they look just fine. Absolutely no reason to fork over $40 bucks for an only marginally improved picture. That's insane.
Yeah, the Divimax DVDs look good enough for me - no need to upgrade for a marginal improvement. I used to buy everything sight unseen but these days, with so much other great stuff coming out, I'd rather spend money on projects that have been given proper treatment.
i tend to agree.
watched part 5 today, picture was nice good colors and so on , audio good enough. The new commentary was informative (both are present) worth the price? don't know really...
A slight upgrade , yes, but that's it. Didn't WOW me , didn't disappoint me
The misdirection regarding the H4 deleted scenes is disappointing. But I could forgive it if the transfer was top-notch. Sadly it doesn't look like we're getting that either--at least not with H4.
What a bummer. The Death Wish 2, 3, and 4 transfers look vastly superior. I was really hoping for that kind of quality for all of these films.
I'll still pick up H4 & H5 if the prices drop to the $10 range. But based on the screen grabs that I've seen I can't justify going higher.
Rock Shock Pop review for Halloween 5!:
Looks like Deep Discount is back to their old shipping habits. My blu-rays were shipped out on August 9th and tracking still says "Arrived at shipping partner facility Carson CA" and according to the lady at USPS it's not even in their posession yet, they just generated that tracking number when the label was printed and are still waiting to accept it to ship. Fucking Deep Discount. Never again. It's Amazon only for me from here on out.
I got a reply from Justin Beahm on Facebook regarding the H4 deleted scenes and he says that the original press release that mentioned it was an error and the scenes never excisted. I'll trust his judgement on that.
Anyone know if any brick and mortar stores are carrying these (like Walmart)?
fye and smaller indie type stores
I'm holding off on these AB Halloween 4 / 5 blu-rays. I'm certain they will be on the $10 rack at Wal-mart come October.
The only Myers BD I've pre-ordered is H2 directly from Shout! I did that to get the nurse's hat. My GF is into costuming, so she can replicate a higher-quality fabric version. Should go great w/ the new official H2 Myers mask for my trick or treat setup.
Wal-mart does carry Shout! discs, so I may be able to get H3 there for a good price in a month or two. I have all these movies on disc already, so It's a no-brainer for me to wait for better prices, esp. w/ Halloween fast approaching.
Got 4 and 5 today!!!
