I'm not sure about Schlafly's Pumpkin Ale. I'm tasting more beer than pumpkin. I'm alternating between drinking it from the bottle and from a glass.
I honestly couldn't give a fart in the high wind about pumpkin-spiced anything. If it truly was a desired flavor, we'd have it year-round. They don't make watermelon Sour Patch Kids only in the summer, do they? No, because watermelon is tasty any time of the year. That said, I had a bomber of this over the weekend: https://www.stonebrewing.com/beer/stone-enjoy-ipa-series/stone-enjoy-103119-ipa Have to say, it was REALLY good. I don't get this "enjoy-by" thing that Stone is doing, maybe it's just that so many of their fans (myself included) buy their brews and immediately set it aside for aging. I have some that are over 10 years old, still unopened. But this was delicious, and it almost tasted like a draft beer instead of bottled. That might be the aim. Either way, find one and drink it. But be sure that's where you're staying for the night; this stuff is 9.4
How cold are you drinking it? I wouldn't advise drinking it warm like sake, but I have noticed that it seems to lose a lot of flavor if it's ice-cold.
I thought pumpkin pie and other stuff is a seasonal thing. I don't think I've ever had pumpkin pie outside of the fall months. And I thought watermelon was a summer fruit. At least for me I noticed watermelon is sweet during the summer. Same goes for strawberries. Just from the refrigerator. In the store it wasn't in the refrigerator though.
It's a bit early for this type of beer but I couldn't resist this overpriced 4 pack with these awesome looking 10% cans! (the can looks even better in person, the flash messes it up a bit a lot...) Bought them warm and they weren't cold until I'd had 3 homebrews but I figured I'd give one a go anyway. This just tastes like a sweet pumpkin pie with lots of pumpkin pie spice in the nose and you don't get the boozy taste until the finish; the almost perfect pumpkin pie taste more than makes up for the fact that this was sweeter than I had hoped. I'll have to try and save one for Halloween...
As far as I'm concerned, it's officially Octoberfest-pumpkin beer season! I had a bunch of Shipyard Pumpkinheads the other night (first of the year for me) and I've been doing Sam Adams Octoberfest for a couple weeks now. Love it. I'm gonna look for that 4 pack this weekend. Cheers!!
Sadly, late August / early September appears to be the peak of the Pumpkin beer season. https://www.newyorkupstate.com/drin...-march-do-brewers-know-what-season-it-is.html
I don't know if I'm going to search much for pumpkin beer this October. I think I'm late too as the guy at the store said it comes in early like zbinks mentioned. Plus I bet the stock isn't as high as normal because of the virus shut down.
I wanted to try the normal version of this Crystal Head Vodka this year but I see they have this onyx version out.
I had this year's "Enjoy by 10-31" IPA from Stone Brewing, but I didn't enjoy it as much as last year's batch. I'll see if Alesmith makes their "Evil Dead Red" again. It's not all that good, but c'mon, how can you NOT buy a beer called "Evil Dead Red" (or the February version of the same brew, appropriately titled "My Bloody Valentine")?
I just stopped by Alesmith during lunch. Their 2020 Evil Dead Red will be out next week. Cutting it a little close to Halloween, IMO, but I'm just glad it's coming out.
Maybe it's a mixed up memory. But I kind of recall McDonalds having some kind of October Halloween shake. I searched but I'm not finding it. I know it wasn't a pumpkin shake as I doubt I would drink that when I was young. But I think it was orange color. Perhaps it was something from Baskin Robins.
I got a Pumpkin shake at "Shake Shack" and it was fucking fantastic. Had pumpkin seeds on top of the whip cream and everything. I'm gonna get one soon, add some whiskey or bourbon to it and see how that goes.....
McDonald's used to have an Arctic Orange milkshake, which was basically Dreamsicle flavored, but they weren't a Halloween tie-in, IIRC.
I've never been to Shake Shack. Perhaps I'll try it out. Thanks. Maybe that's it. I'm looking for old McDonalds items now. I haven't been to McDonalds in a long time. But I just remembered how much better their old apple pies were compared to the new version.
Ah, it's as good a reason as any. I once bought a bottle of this: for the crazy mad scientist on the bottle, and the stuff was delicious.
