Looks sweet if the artwork indeed comes from Universal. Maybe these will hit in time for October?

Yeah I saw that on bluray.com as well and wondered the same thing. Hopefully it's the art they're using, the DVD artwork for part II was terrible.

It would be great if they do use the original artwork, but I expect them to change it to some shitty photoshop artwork before release date. I hope I'm wrong though.

I don't know if the original poster art alone makes a catchy cover... it looks dated. However, I would much prefer that they take that original art work & "update" it, like what Blue Underground did with the artwork for the Zombie Blu-ray release.

I always find it odd that studios change the artwork for films, even if it is to make the film appear more "modern". You don't see record labels changing album artwork to "modernize" them (because album artwork can look JUST as dated). Music can age just as much as a film can so the idea of making it appear more contemporary seems ridiculous because it's the same film underneath it all...

It would be considered blasphemy to change the artwork for an album like Jackson's Thriller or Springsteen's Born in the U.S.A. (even though the cover of Thriller looks dated) so I don't understand why it's okay to fuck around with iconic artwork for a film. It's just strange, when you think about it, how in the music industry a company wouldn't dare fuck with album artwork but when it comes to the film industry, artwork is very often completely changed.

Agreed, myself I liked the original art work for these films & hate the fact that they change it. I'm still pissed off at Paramount for changing the friday covers starting with the crap covers they gave part 6-8 in the first run & then going down hill with every re-release. So I'm hoping Universal keeps it this way for the Halloween's.

Personally I wish companies would print double sided sleeves, one with a "modern hip" (lol) look and then put the original poster artwork on the flip side for us collectors and purists.

Critical Mass did that on the original dvd of Black Christmas & Shout Factory has been doing it with the Corman releases. I myself think it's an awesome Idea that would make everyone happy.

I'm just glad these are both coming soon to Blu-ray, especially part 3! I sure do dig the original artwork and hope it's used. I will quickly get over it if that's not the case.

Original art is original art, Don't see anyone rushing to jazz up the feckin' Mona Lisa, Lets put an ipod on her!

Just look what Universal did to the iconic Jaws poster art for the DVD.

    Leave the original art...ALONE! ;)

The alternate ending and TV scenes for Halloween II would be a nice inclusion for the extra features. But given Universal's previous DVD treatment, I'm not holding my breath.

Someone on the forums made those covers as a placeholder until the real covers are revealed.

I'm note so much really suggesting changing the poster artwork itself. Again, just like with Blue Underground's new Zombie cover, I just suggest updating the backgrounds, borders, etc to accentuate the actual art.

If it seems to good to be true it probably is. Those words seem to have a higher meaning nowadays.
