The cover art has been updated;
this actually is pretty good artwork, better than the universal dvd..
I hope so. Growing up in the 80's, the TV version of 1 & 2 were the only versions that were on. I have an Ultimate Cut bootleg on DVD, but the quality is awful. Regardless, I had the VHS and the Goodtimes DVD. I have the Universal DVD and I'll buy the blu-ray day one. Bring on part 3 on blu!
Found the cover:
which is correct the amazon cover that says 30th anniversary or this one posted above
Amazon's got one up? I couldn't find it. Show me.
Now let's just hope for a Halloween 3 announcement! With also some extra stuff!I think that including Terror In The Aisles as an extra is a pretty generous thing from Universal.
Well, that's interesting. I'd like to know which is the real one, too. Blu-ray.com needs to come up with some new rules, ones that don't allow just anyone to post DVD covers.
I know practically nothing about TERROR IN THE AISLES so I don't want to engage in too much speculation, but the question really boils down to what rights Universal secured for those other movies way back when the film was put together. Did they license the footage to be used as part of the picture in all distribution mediums, existing then and to be developed in the future? Or did they just license it for a certain set of distribution mediums? And did they license those clips in perpetuity, or just for a set period of time? If Universal had the foresight to secure the home video rights to the clips in perpetuity, then there shouldn't be any clearance issues with releasing it as an extra on a Blu-Ray. The fact that the TV version features clips removed and replaced could indicate that they didn't secure all rights to the footage - although it should also be noted that the IMDb says that the footage was removed because it was too violent for broadcast, not because of rights issues. Whether this is accurate or not I don't know, again, this film was entirely off my radar until today.
That's actually a pretty awesome cover. Reminds me of the old grindhouse type posters.
I'd say that cover is the official one. It looks more complete. The other looked a little bare.
DVDaf has the official cover I believe.
Also, Blu-Ray.com reports the sound will be 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.
Already pre-ordered... Very excited to see one of my favorite slashers finally getting the treatment it deserves.
Sweet. I thought that cover was the official one. I really dig it.
Does Universal lock their blu's?
Nope. Unless there's some rare exception, all of their Blu-rays have been region free.
Best news ever. Thanks. Well looks like I'll probably pre-order this bad boy.
Well, I am a man of my word and and I have never been more happy to have been proven wrong as in this case, I clearly was so DVDBone, please accept my apologies for doubting your information. You were right and I was wrong and fuck am I so glad I was wrong. Thanks for posting the info brother!
This is the best news I've heard in a while. Can't wait to pick this up along with Severin's Bloody Birthday and Arrow's region 2 special edition of Slaughter High.
