I actually don't mind the artwork.
i guess i'm sticking w/ my japanese version
u guys gotta also understand that some box arts have copyright laws.......,
that could be the reasons for alot of films lacking the original art
As long as it's anamorphic, I really don't care too much about the cover. You can always buy the poster.
I HAVE the poster...that's what's so sad - why do they feel they have to dress up older films and make them look "current". At first glance, this looks like a possessed prom queen flick.
I have to complain, though. I love the film too much for it to be presented in such a cheesy manner. When companies like Syanpse give their releases so much respect - the studios sometimes tend to...just do it wrong.
I just hope the film looks great. I'm glad, at the VERY, VERY least it's anamorphic.
the same reason every film is being released in a lbx format ,even though
most older films werent meant to be shown that way ,and to fit these new WS tv's..........
sorry betterdan , i couldn't resist................
 Damn you speanroc!
Glad it's in widescreen...
Quite possibly the worst DVD artwork ever. I'm just...wow...
Is that a...a castle...in the background?
Thank God for the maxim, "Don't judge a book by its cover." That cover work is perhaps the worst and most misleading artwork ever released for a studio film. Perhaps it is a different birthday we've been invited too, because that ain't Melissa Sue. At least its anamorphic, folks.
I too am glad it will be in widescreen...but that coverart looks horrendous. Who the hell is that girl?
Wanna let Columbia know what you think of the cover art?
Fire off a polite e-mail telling them what you think of the current artwork, and urge them to change it to the classic, iconic "shish-kebob" artwork that it is famous for, here...
They usually send replies, but if a large number of us e-mail them, they may not reply back to each individual. However, if a large number of us e-mail them, I'm sure we are likely to be heard. Their customer service department is great, from my experience. So let them know what we think!
I'll do it, but I doubt it will do much good. They aren't even putting a theatrical trailer on the disc...as usual.
Anyword on it being uncut? THat would be more important to me than an ugly cover--but damn that is an ugly cover!
I pretty much gave up on an uncut version months ago.
The least they could've done was to give us the cover art we loved, and they completely screwed that up.
Honestly, I'd not be nearly as upset if it were just a giant head-shot of Melissa Sue Anderson, or maybe a still of her holding a birthday cake. Because, that is something that is IN THE MOVIE. Columbia has hired some generic model (with big...GLOWING...eyes) to pose in front of what appears to be the sihlouette of a castle (it sure ain't Crawford Academy), holding a cake with a knife sticking in it.
I know early 80's slashers aren't particularly the classiest flicks around, but come on...Happy Birthday to Me deserves a little better than this, Columbia!
Well, I just sent them a rather lengthy (but friendly!) e-mail...let's hope it works.
Just make your own cover art...
Damn that's some shitty cover art. I think I'd rather see Mutleyhyde posing nude, feeding Matt a shishkabob while Rhett squirts a can of Pam all over them than that crap.
I think you'd rather see that than anything else in existence. Dan's fantasies finally revealed.
Oh and thanks for that 8x10 photo
I'm relieved it will be in widescreen but that cover is HORRIBLE.
What an incredibly fucking stupid DVD cover.
