Yeah, I was curious about that. The last update I saw of this movie was from you a while back referring to that interview.

Awesome news, can't wait! Really enjoyed the first film. A great movie to watch with some friends and a round of beers.

I thought Hatchet was decent, I would'nt want to see it again but it had its moments. Don't know much about Uwe but if he's in any way related to Lewey and Dewey it may be good.

Hatchet 1 was good. Overhyped, but good. I would watch a sequel.

I attended a panel for this movie at Comic-Con today. Adam Green was there of course, along with Kane Hodder, Tom Holland (who is acting in this one), Danielle Harris (cute!), Parry Shen, and others involved with the film.

It looks like it emphasizes "cool kills" over any kind of real terror or tension, but I don't think Green would even consider that an insult. He boasted of 17 kills in this movie, and showed 8 in some advanced clips. Some pretty nasty stuff, I can assure you.

Two things did stand out in the discussion:

    1. He has given up on getting an R rating and has decided to go unrated. Normally, that would be the death sentence for any widespread release, and I have a feeling most here will probably have to wait for DVD. BUT, he did indicate that one major theater chain (did not disclose which one, surprise surprise) is willing to show it unrated. And he said "Major", not an indie-chain like Landmark. So even if it ain't all that great, I'll give major props for bypassing the MPAA. Baby steps, but it's progress.

    2. In regards to remakes, he berated the audience much the same way I criticize other members of this forum. In that he said, "If you don't like remakes, STOP FUCKING WATCHING THEM! If you keep going to see them (even if you don't like them), the studios will keep making them." I've changed the wording a little, but I do agree with him.

Did I mention Danielle Harris looked cute?

He announced, via Twitter, that AMC will be the chain showing it uncut. The film will be released on October 1.

Agreed. I hope this risk pays off so that more major chains will take a risk on unrated films.

I'm still a big fan of the original. I know it gets a lot of hate on here, and the internet in general, but I love it. I don't think the overhype helped it. I was able to see the film in Boston, with Adam Green in attendance and a packed house who was really getting into the film. That's a great way to see a horror film for the first time. But, I also saw it a few days later in an almost empty theater and enjoyed it just as much, just as I did when I watched it on DVD. So, I don't think my opinion is necessarily based on my initial experience. I'm really excited for the sequel, especially the idea of seeing an unrated slasher flick on the big screen.
